Deviljho is perhaps my favorite...for no other reason other than his random attacking ass helped me to better understand the mechanics of certain weapons, and learn patterns and to truly start recognizing moves. While I still say the invulnerability window of a dodge is still significantly too small naturally, I'm beginning to look at replacing Earplugs as I'm learning the timing down for when to roll or counter roars and ground trembles.
First started Deviljho with a Bow (granted, Tempered Deviljho I still use Bow), then learned to fight it with Long Sword, which was how I quickly learned to use Long Sword, with Foresight Slash. From there I moved to Hammer and Great Sword, still learning the tricks and trades of dodging and positioning, as well as timing attacks. Gunlance I need to return to, I went with that for most of my beginning questing, and Lance has been a love of mine for a time too. Dual Swords...about the only weapons I don't fiddle with are Hunting Horn, Light and Heavy Bowgun, but I am looking to try my hand at the Heavy variety.
