... but that's OK; I knew where to find it
why do i sense a showdown looming?
thing one: it seems odd that Glaive, who apparently looks fairly inhuman, is nevertheless insulting to a nonhuman. If the town is as unfriendly as described, surely someone with his looks would get a cold shoulder there ... or perhaps I am missing something?
thing two: i am unclear on is magic; can anyone learn magic, or does one need to be gifted somehow?
thing three: just as a by-the-by, as this document appears to have been created with ms-word, it should be possible to restyle the paragraphs to include additional margin at the bottom, should you feel it somehow enhances the story to have only a teeny tiny fraction of it displayed onscreen at any time. (i disagree. it's a lovely story. why hide it?) and of course it would be much simpler for me to reformat it by resetting the paragraphs to my preferred One True Formatting style as it is, the superfluous paragraphs force a great deal of undesired-by-me white space into the story.
anyway. i find stories about minotaurs inspiring, and thinking about what might happen in the next chapter ... particularly inspiring.
thanks for posting!

Thing one: Glaive is "technically human." That is, his blood is majority human. He may be projecting his own feelings of inadequacy against the 'taurs. The townsfolk like Glaive as he is the most vocal in his hatred of full non-humans. Higgs and co. get shunned because they actively tolerate minotaurs and others.
Thing two: There are many type of magic in the multiverse. Nature, Holy, Shadow, Dark (yes, there is a difference), Elemental, Soul, and a plethora of others. A very small number of people can naturally use magic. Ruulkan has the innate power to tap into Natural Magic, an inborn gift cultivated through apprenticeship to an experienced sorceror.
Others, like Tylara, use High Sorcery. It can be used by anyone, but it takes years of study and dedication to harness the arcane formulae.
Thing three: I'm not really up on formatting.
