A colored page TF commission for
Nidonocu which features him turning into a kobold after accidentally discovering that his necklace he was gifted was actually a magical trinket ;)
Problem is, it's rather inconvenient. Especially at workplace... Now talk about getting a bit too much into character! ^^
Little story by Nidonocu
"It had first felt like an upset stomach when things first started at his desk. He’d tried to ignore it and fix the bug he’d been staring at since lunch time, but after feeling his skin start to get clammy and cold he locked his machine and as quickly as he could started to make his way to the bathroom. Clearly something wasn’t right.
He’d got out in to the hall when his skin began to itch, and his clothes began to feel uncomfortable, loose, like they were a size too large. It took his jeans suddenly being pushed down for him to realise something he couldn’t at all explain was happening to him. No one was out here, and his airway felt tight, he couldn’t yell out, just growl from the back of his throat.
Looking at his hands he could see it now, the skin firming, toughening in to scales of a strange unnatural hue. He could feel something too, a strange tingle against his chest. He reached under his polo and pulled out the pendent he was wearing. A gift from a friend for his birthday, a soul stone he’d been told. It would help him ‘find his true path’ apparently.
That seemed like a load of nonsense at the time, a silly story from his friend. But now it was glowing, and his body was shifting, changing, growing smaller, every cell in his body fizzing like soda and tickling. His legs and body almost buckled as even bones started to shift and he was struggling to stay up.
He couldn’t be seen like this, and he’d never make it to the bathroom now. But, yes, just across the hall, the server room. Barely anyone went in there unless there was a fault. He rummaged through his pocket and found his key-card and tried to swipe.
Blip, Error. Access Denied.
Augh, this thing never worked properly. He tried again, another swipe. And another, his fingers gripping the plastic starting to shift and change before his eyes, thick claws growing from the tips and digging in to the material.
He swiped again and again, he could barely hold his jeans up now, even more so with what he could now feel was a tail pushing out from his behind. An itching on his head as his hair was shoved aside by thickening bony horns.
Blip, Ding. Access Granted.
Finally! The door clicked open and he stumbled inside, kicking the door closed with a scrape of his foot-claws as they had pushed through the remains of his shoes. His glasses clattered to the ground.
As he staggered amongst the monoliths of servers, his mind seemed to get foggy and lost. He rubbed his eyes and then, just like that. It was clear again.
But he was lost and stared at the room around him. He had known these things, he knew he used to find them normal but now, they were just tall dark monoliths of shimmering strange lights and a sterile heat. He couldn’t begin to fathom their purpose and was so distracted he almost tripped over the rubberised ropes that hung like vines, but he caught himself and came to a stop before a glass door covering one of the columns of technology.
Staring at his now short purple scaled body in its transparent reflection, that all looked fine at least. Three horns, freckled back, amber eyes and a chunky tail. Everything as it should be. But he was covered in strange fabrics, completely inappropriate for his size or shape. Nocuous had no idea how he’d ended up in those. He had his soul stone at least, with that and the right incantation he could contact the clan and find his way home.
Maybe they’d be able to explain what had happened."

Just wanted to tell you here, a really nicely written story you did there for this piece of art. Just curious what would happen if he tried to call his clan...would nothing happen, or would more people around him change? How much of his old self is stil there? Would he change back when taking it off? Was the guy gifting it to him a Kobold in disguise?
Sorry, too many questions when looking at this amazing piece of art. Just so cool what you commissioed there from Nyhg!

If he did change back after taking it off that would make it a really good item to have being able to turn into something with hard scales and a knowledge of magic or potion making (I don't know how to spell that word)hmm actually that gave me a pretty good idea for a kobold form (though knowing how I am I would probably mess up with the form's personality a lot and maybe magic/potion making too).
Nyhg, you once outdid yourself again. I can barely tell here how amazing I think this looks like. But I really wanna mention here the tiny details on his facial expression in the second panel, where you can easily see his panicking mind, just before the access was granted. Truly shows how amazing you are with facial expressions in your art.
