This is the Viali's alphabet. They have included glyphs for 6, 7, 8, and 9 to make compatibility with species that use those base number systems a bit easier.

Their glyphs stem from their primitive days, when they wrote down basic history by scratching into material with their claws. They kept writing, and as they advanced forward, these glyphs just stuck around. Their modern variants are the same as they were back when they were more primitive, just a bit simpler, and not real scratches. That would be damaging. :>
