Mirna the Watcher

The eldest of the Caretakers, she sits before the Prime Veil, night and day and watches the Shadow. She is the eye that senses the hunger and the steward of the Peace. There is no one living within The Village who remembers her being young. There isn’t even anyone who remembers her being middle aged. She is as much a part of Heartwood Hall as the stout oak and dusty mortar.
The Watcher rarely stirs. She seems to live in her rocking chair that softly sways in front of the Veil as though pushed by a soft wind. It is said that she doesn’t even notice Saints until they have carried enough Soul for seven life times. Her soft grey eyes might not even see as others do. Those who say they’ve seen her stand or eat are often scoffed at by any who haven’t... though occasionally, she must move, right?

However, at some point the Watcher will rest and the Tender will take her place. They will don the quilt of eyes sewn by generations of the most esteemed seamstresses and take their post before the hungering Shadow.
