Then came the day, much later in her life, when a "catcher ship" out hunting whales, fired a harpoon into Selene, by this time larger than any whale who ever lived.
Vendetta had a crew of 21. Sixteen of them went down her throat with the ship, some surviving for more than an hour as her digestive juices slowly ate into the ship. Eventually the last bulkhead failed and they were consumed by acid. One jumped into the water as the ship was eaten and drowned, weakened by hypothermia. His body was later found by Selene's mother and swallowed whole.
One managed to climb into a lifeboat and launch it only to ride it into Selene's alimentary canal when she swallowed him lifeboat and all.
The remaining crew got a short trip through a dolphin's guts in one case and a nice warm sealskin coat for the other two, courtesy of Selene's dolphin friend Whistle-Click and her mother respectively. Hey, at least they were warm. That water is frigid!
Whistle and Aida, Selene's mother, refer to this as "scraps from her table". Selene takes the big stuff, they get the leftovers. They just have to stay well away lest they get eaten accidentally. It's worth it since in this one hunt Whistle got a whole human (and could have had two if she wanted) while Aida swam heavily off to a nice beach to lie up and digest three men.
A significant chunk of the sea around Antarctica eventually became a no-go zone for ships. Selene ultimately grew to such a size that even cruise ships and whaling factory ships weren't safe.

To answer your question, though (which I should have done when I edited my reply that was to the wrong message), anything small enough to swallow that contains things she likes to eat (which is pretty much everything but water, rocks and air) is on her menu. Which includes ships once she gets big enough. 83
There were no survivors from the Vendetta. Somewhat later, when she had grown even better, an entire whaling "factory ship" with a crew of well over a hundred disappeared without a trace in the Antarctic. It took Whistle and Aida several days to digest their "scraps". 83
I have a friend who's username is fitting for this

<3 *Heaves a sigh* This shows one of my favorite, but sadly underused vore scenarios: People in an object that's getting swallowed. I prefer it if it's a car, bus, something that allows the person to see that mouth looming over whatever it is they're in, and to see down into the gullet as the predator enjoys its meal, then having nothing to do but wait in the stomach. Boats, naturally, work for this as well! <3 <3 <3
This is years after the orca pic, which is years after the dolphin pics. Selene is an extremely rare form of predator I call a 'colossus'. They typically have no upper limit to their growth, though many of them do eventually stop growing like the Great Mother Bear and her daughter the thousand ton bear.
Someone did try to blow her up by feeding her a ship full of ammonium nitrate rigged to blow. It didn't work and that started the treaty making process. Some of the provisions were unpopular with a few countries and she ate a Japanese whaling station as a demonstration. The whole station. Buildings, staff, the attendant whaling ships and three warships that tried to defend it. Thus the submarine pic.
They get eaten. There is an exclusion zone around her island (and before that, around where she was in the ocean, the zone moving with her). Any ship that broke down or got too close when she was in the deep ocean simply got eaten. "No rescue will be attempted". Since moving to her island this does not happen as often but people do show up asking for either her or one of her followers to eat them, or they cause trouble and are eaten.
Assuming you have a valid reason to be there and don't cause trouble, and don't have her roll over on you accidentally, you would be safe enough. A certain number of people do turn up just to marvel at her or talk to her followers (she is so huge by the time she ends up on her island her voice is subsonic). Most of her followers will happily eat humans if they get the chance but in order to keep the peace they usually don't do so. The number of tourists is limited by the exclusion zone but it is possible to slip past - and a lot of the people who go to the island to gawk are specifically there to feed themselves to Selene or one of her followers. Some people like the idea of being eaten by a "god" so massive she won't even notice you sliding down her throat while others like the idea of being a good filling meal for a dolphin, sea lion, seal, orca or whatnot.
Alright but now i have a what if question. What if there was like 2 to 4 smalls ships of people who didn't like selene and her followers and that they didn't care what the military said and tried to attack will and can selene and her follows still take care of all of them no matter how many people there are to cause trouble.
That is an outright act of aggression which would end with the people getting eaten. Bigger boats full of troublemakers would be eaten by Selene passengers and all while smaller ones would be overturned and the passengers eaten in the water by various predators. By the time Selene gets to the island she is much too tough for any little group of armed people to handle and they would all suffer slimy digestive fates.
Needless to say various international organizations would have a big problem with this. However, not every ship can be thoroughly searched (they snuck a shipload of explosives to the island because of this). Some ships are going to slip through and Selene's stomach doesn't care if there are people in there. With her followers it's a different matter, once you have someone intentionally eating tied up people on board the ships it becomes a political issue. So if they find people in there they would contact an embassy or two, though I expect some seals or dolphins or whatnot succumb to temptation and "disappear" some people.
Her limit is a little more than her actual size, which doesn't necessarily mean her weight. (She once ate an orca twice as heavy as herself, but he was actually a little shorter - just thicker.) When she was young her digestive system was normal enough but by the time she is on the island she's developed the ability to digest just about anything - which is how she can digest ships. She doesn't get many calories from metal but it dissolves just fine, along with plastic and other synthetics.
Oh-ho, so she has an Iron Stomach superpower at this point in her life.
That's one way to get your trace minerals.
Seriously, this is a hella creative idea. Whales have been used as man- and ship-eating monsters for millennia, but this is the first I've seen someone using a *leopard seal* as one. Good work!
( Look forward to the after pic of THIS one )

Selene started out as a seemingly.normal leopard seal but as she grew she developed into a legendary monster. Eventually we'll see why the military didn't hunt her down. She would be easy to deal. With at this size but she hasn't stopped growing. By this size she can digest just about anything and that allows her to broaden her diet. Eventually she gets quite big. 83
Same size vore is as unrealistic as a leopard seal that doesn't stop growing. Obviously the physics don't work for a critter this size but I'm willing to give that a pass so I can draw something a little different. But yes, leopard seals have snake looking heads so I could imagine them swallowing people whole. 83
I got into leopard seals when that series of photos called "Face to face with a predator" surfaced.
