He's comes from a custom setting I'm trying to develop and write. In his world, there is no distinction between Arcane and Divine magic, but mages (and priests and druids) are restricted by schools of magic from which they cast. He's a bit special -- dragon-blooded -- so he can cast from all schools. If he were translated to Dungeons and Dragons, he would be a weird blend between Wizard and Sorcerer.
