[PKMN] Pro Battler/Pro Wrestler - Gorou Nakajima
Gorou Nakajima the Makuhita was born on MeleMele Island, in the quiet little village of Iki Town. The fifth child born to his family, he developed an assertive, competitive attitude--after all, growing up with four older brothers and sisters results in a lot of sibling rivalries--becoming an adamant, go-getter type by the time he evolved into a Hariyama. While he did enjoy the otherwise quiet life in Iki Town, Gorou yearned for the chance to experience a bit more excitement in his life, while also wishing to satisfy a desire to be a great competitor. Thus, Gorou embarked on a journey to strengthen himself and experience what the rest of the Alola region had to offer.
Strengthening himself on the various islands--including the spacious Plains of Poni Island and the Training Camp built on the Poke Pelago’s Isle Evelup--Gorou nearly worked himself to the point of exhaustion. Despite wishing to push himself a bit further, Gorou relented when one of his travelling companions--a Magmar named Mark who was perpetually babysitting numerous preschoolers--suggested that the Hariyama take a moment to rest and try to enjoy himself a bit more. Thus Gorou decided to visit the Festival Plaza for a change of pace, and admittedly found it to be just the sort of respite he unknowingly, yet desperately needed. Spending time within the virtual Plaza made him recall the other reason he had embarked on his journey: to enjoy himself as much as possible, something he had forgotten whilst in the midst of his rigorous, non-stop training. This, he concluded, would be his treat for working so hard.
Still, he was quite anxious to test his skills in combat. Joining up with a motley crew of wanderers who had also arrived to that particular Festival Plaza, Gorou set his sights on the reaching the top--that is, the top of Mt. Lanakila, the site of the Alola Pokemon League. Though it was meant to be a team effort, Gorou himself got rather carried away as he ended up taking out the entirety of the Elite Four AND the final Challenger by himself (with medicinal aid from the sidelines, that is). After admitting that such an act was foolish on his part, and that it ultimately felt like a hollow victory, Gorou’s next objective became clear: BECOME A PRO WRESTLER!!!1!
All joking aside, the next stop was the Royal Dome, home of the Battle Royale, err, battles, and a real test of one’s ability not only in combat, but also teamwork. Indeed, several times Gorou and his teammates--Kalani the Serperior and an Aegislash known only by his moniker of “Master Sword”--were either taken down by the opposing teams, or could not gather enough Knock Outs before one of the opposing teams were eliminated themselves. Yet they persevered, with Kalani being the lead while Gorou himself stepped in to swiftly K.O. the opponents that managed to hang on by the skin of their teeth, with “Master Sword” coming in when needed. After many matches, Gorou and his teammates finally succeeded in securing a victory in the Master Rank. Gorou himself found that he quite enjoyed being in the middle of such a spectacle, cheered on by thousands of people... it was exhilarating, much more so than the Pokemon League. He might just come back one day and adapt the persona of a Pro Wrestler, himself.
The Battle Tree of Poni Island would be his next potential goal… but it can wait another day.
A little extra context now: this guy is based on a Hariyama that I raised from an Egg given to me for a contest on Pokemon Showdown's Wi-Fi Server, and I had gotten quite attached to him enough to make a Pokemorph out of him! The above description was also something I originally wrote to go along with said entry before I was informed that accompanying descriptions were supposed to be no longer than a few sentences. But hey, at least it saved me the trouble of writing something for this picture XD
My in-game Gorou is holding an Assault Vest and kept in a Luxury Ball, both of which became incorporated in the design of his first outfit... which ended up looking rather Kingdom Hearts inspired, LMAO!
