This piece of beautiful artwork has been the result of the past nine years, many days and nights of hard work and emotional and mental duress and strain, and the fears that it would never happen, that I would forever be stuck. Such is how our current society works- go to college, end up two-three figures in debt, work the rest of your life paying it off, end up paying an absurd amount more in interest than what you originally owed. Our loan and debt cycle is vicious and cruel, with a desperate need of a serious overhaul, and there are still countless others stuck in that seemingly endless loop of debt and despair.
But last month, I finally escaped that circle. I've done so by taking the past year and a half and living in a very undesirable and borderline miserable environment, with the only pro being able to save money at a quicker rate than I would living on my own. Some of you may recall I made a journal about this in December of '17, how I had moved back in with my parents to help them with their own financial struggles. And while I love my parents dearly, living with them as an adult has been absolutely terrible. Still, I stuck through it because I wanted to help them- and because, by doing so, I would be able to more quickly save money on my own to pay off my own student loans.
And I have finally done so. My student loans are entirely paid off. I am no longer in debt. I am free.
Jesiana here has always been a secondary fursona to me. While Lerato is my main one, I never really think of irl me represented through Lerato. Jesiana was created to be more of this kind of fursona- "me", as a lion. The first time I created her, she had chibi/toony wings, but at some point they were removed. She's gone through a few design changes over the years, but with this monumental life change I've gone through and have achieved, I feel it's fitting to give her back those wings. I may not always portray her with them- i.e. they're not 'permanent'- but it's nice to see them on her, regardless, and it's not out of the question that I may draw her in the future with these wings.
So, a HUGE thanks to
kitsunerawr for working with me on this important and meaningful piece. I have nothing but the highest praise to speak of for this artist, who was so kind and patient and understanding through the creation process, offering different versions and making changes to make sure that the piece turned out exactly as I felt. I couldn't be happier with the result, it's absolutely perfect. Please, if you can, go visit their gallery and give them a watch! They're incredibly talented and a delight to work with!
And, of course- a monumental thank-you, to YOU. Yes, all of you. If you've ever commissioned me, favorited/commented on my art, watched me, looked at my artwork, visited my page, said hi to me at a con or swung by my artist alley table- ANY and ALL of it. Your support is what's helped me survive this, what helped me achieve this goal. Your words of encouragement, along with the wordless support shown to me over the past few years, has been what's kept me going. I cannot thank you all enough, I cannot emphasize enough just how much it's meant to me, how much it still means to me. I could not have done this without you. This achievement of mine, is also yours.
I don't know where I'll be a month from now, a year from now, or longer. I don't know what kind of artist I'll be, where I'll living, what I'll be making... etc etc. But I do know that, no matter where I go, I will not be held down by thousands of dollars of debt. For the first time, I have some optimism... some hope, for where my life will go next. Whatever comes next, I'm ready for it.
Thank you guys. <3
Ya'll are awesome.

Hooray, congratulations!!! That's awesome news and having your student loans paid off so quickly is truly an amazing feat that you should be very proud of. :) I only just achieved that this year, and that was 11 years after graduating from my last degree (and 12 years total of repayment).
I hope that your future is full of great things! :D
