Brock Cunningham, also known as the Quiz King, was (and is) Bengalia's biggest celebrity before coming to the States. Thanks to him being a game show host, he and Cripto share a special bond of friendship via the medium of television game shows (and this also includes board game and video game adaptations of game shows). Here's the rundown on him:
Quiz King Bio
Name: Quiz King
Real Name: Brock Cunningham
Species: White Bengal tiger
Gender: Male
Nationality: Bengalian-American
Current Occupation: Game show host, producer, and co-creator (alongside Cripto) of the Wheel Around the World Kit (done with permission of the show's owners and copyright holders, who actually asked him and Cripto to do it as a joint-effort with them).
Former Occupation: Bengalian Navy Commodore.
Appearance: Slim but athletic white tiger who usually appears in a black suit with a green tie, with black dress slacks and black dress shoes, when hosting his shows on camera. Off camera, he alternates between business casual and the t-shirt and jeans look. (A few shows with certain themes allow him to dress this way on camera.) He has blue eyes.
Hometown: Gun City, Saluto, Bengalia
Current Residence: Wildcat City, Kansas, USA
Age immortalized by CNG: 25
Superpowers: X-ray vision, cash maniuplation, and reality warping (although he rarely warps reality because he prefers to let Cripto do it)
Battle Uniform: Orange, yellow, and green form-fitting outfit. In the center of his chest is a yellow dollar sign inside a rhombus (a square on its diagonal), and on his belt is a gold dollar sign. His cape is a tricolor stripe pattern of orange, yellow, and green, made to match the Bengalian flag.
Bio: Brock was the host of Bengalia's most popular game show, Let's Play Hangman (which bears a loose resemblance to the Brazilian game show Vamos Brincar de Forca, which roughly translates to the same). The show is not affilated with Wheel of Fortune in any way; in fact, Bengalia's version had a Wheel of Fortune-style wheel and contestant's row, but the wheel's only purpose was to choose a number from 1 to 12, which determined the puzzle to be used in that round. The show ran for 2,102 episodes before abruptly cancelling itself due to the fact Bengalia was evacuated from being too fragile to support life, which the expert claim was the doing of CNG. (CNG is the most unstable and dangerous element in the universe; such is the reason Super C and the Caticonians emphasize the importance of controlling it, although destroying it doesn't help the research cause). Brock's popularity led him to be hailed as "the Quiz King of Bengalia," hence why Quiz King is his superhero name.
The show in detail will be mentioned in a future article as well, but for now, what you need to know is that it colored its wheel spaces and contestant podiums the patriotic Bengalian colors of its flag: green, orange, and yellow (the flag is a tricolor of green, orange, and yellow from top to bottom). Unlike the versions of Wheel which employ a co-host (although Brazil's doesn't do this anymore), and like the modern version of Vamos, Brock worked the puzzle board himself. (The puzzle board had four lines and used trilons.)
Upon arriving in America, Brock first learned of the success of Wheel and decided reviving his show wasn't worth it, because it would only cause confusion to the people. However, he was fascinated by Vamos, and thus, why Brazil's Wheel, Roda a Roda, plays very similar to Vamos (and COP confirmed that Silvio Santos designed the show this way so his fellow Brazilians wouldn't be confused). As a result, at his suggestion, Cripto managed to program both the Bengalian and Brazilian shows of Hangman/Vamos into his Wheel sets; however, his props don't get rid of the wheel, so in the case of the Brazilian show, the Wheel remains stationary.
Prior to his career as a game show host, Brock served in the Bengalian Navy, albeit just for a few short years. He did, however, play a small role in thwarting the Golbarkan pirates, in that the ship he served on followed Kriegland's example of destroying the pornography involved (since the whole Forsythe system vowed to destroy it and questioned why Earth wasn't doing the same). He finished at the rank of Commodore.
Brock filmed a US pilot of his Hangman show for WBC; the project was eventually passed on in favor of C.K./King Leo's television game show Golden Words (based on the Italian game show Parole d'oro; both the Italian version and King Leo's version are also programmed into Cripto's Wheel podium). However, the pilot drew enough attention in order to start marketing of a new Wheel Around the World Kit; the patents and copyrights of this equipment are joint-owned by him, Cripto, and the people who own Wheel of Fortune. Based on Cripto's Wheel sets programmed into the single podium, which automatically updates itself when a new version of the show debuts worldwide, or manually when somebody creates a custom version of Wheel or a Hangman-style game, this is not available in stores. It also comes in various sizes, given the size of people's houses vary, and "not everybody can have the home Cripto has." The podium, however, always comes full size, and has a touchscreen with keyboard that changes sets or modes. (More info on this product will be discussed in a future article.)
Brock can only speak English, but wants to learn a few languages, and often insists that the international versions of Wheel, past and present, should be included in school curriculums that teach such languages. By coincidence, he also lives next door to Cripto (having just moved in when another neighbor moved out), and in response, Dark Wolf used his powers to create a connecting tunnel from Brock's house to his castle.
All 2,102 episodes of Let's Play Hangman exist, and have been uploaded to Brock's YouTube account. Brock is the third game show host to be employed (after Cripto and Lotto Lion).
As a producer, Brock produces Cripto's version of Lingo (running since earlier this year) and executive produces Super C's version of The Krypton Factor (running 2008 to the present).
Brock's other game shows include Quiz Whiz, a general Q & A show; the Bengalian version of The $64,000 Question (done without being fixed, of course, and actually modeled after the 1990s British version with Bob Monkhouse), Cranium Combat (which combined general knowledge with military tactics alluding to the game of Stratego), and Brock's House Party (which combined variety show elements with the concept of Let's Make a Deal). Of these shows, he has yet to film a new pilot for US audiences, and decided that since Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is still airing today and offers a bigger jackpot, there's no need to bother reviving The $64,000 Question.
Quotes: "It's such a shame Let's Play Hangman had to end, because it was Bengalia's longest-running game show. The fact the USA has Wheel of Fortune guarantees my show isn't making a comeback, but it was worth doing the pilot because of our Wheel Around the World Kit. A bonus feature of the kit allows users to watch the pilot, although they should also be able to find it on YouTube."
"Can you villains answer this trivia question?" (when fighting evil)
"Correct, but you're a villain, so you'll still get what's coming to you!" (when fighting evil and the villain answers correctly)
"That is incorrect! And here's your penalty!" (when fighting evil and the villain answers incorrectly; as the villain or terrorist is arrested, that's when he gives the correct answer)
"This is the $64,000 question." (when faced with a dilemma)
"Wanna bet?" (when confronting evil)
