She asked for my manager and then my manager said no refund, so, you know, fuck you.
Also, just FYI, it takes more work to give you a prorated refund, so had you just been nice and not have been so demandy I'd have been like "oh you know what let me just give you a full refund im so sorry our services disappointed you", so you know, double fuck you.

Really no one will wait a year to cancel a service if they are unhappy with it. That's just someone trying to scam money out of the company. Same thing happens to someone I know who works at a coffee shop, someone tried to come in saying that they bought two coffees the previous day but they were made wrong, didn't have the coffees or the receipt but expected two free coffees.
Bet the manager knew the same thing so on top of the attitude they decided not to refund.

This happens in every business that offers goods or services that can be returned or refunded. I worked enough retail to see the patterns. People buying heaters in the winter, returning them in the spring. People buying portable air conditioners and garden tools in the summer, returning them in the fall...
I heard a story, not sure if its true, of a farmer who wanted a new tractor for his farm, but could not afford it. so he would rent it for the season, return it, rent the exact same one next season, return it.... and repeated that for about 10 years. he was the only one to rent the specific tractor. eventually it was too old to rent anymore so they place put it up for sale at a huge discount, because its been used for the last 10 years! so the farmer bought it. and ended up saving money even after adding the rent to the total price.
