To be honest, this is a bit of a story-scrap that was merely an idea fleshed out from a very short dream.
It literally mashed three things together: Guild Wars 2, Star Trek, and the Troy Rising book series (specifically the mention of the Assault Vector, though I might have meant a combat-style vessel instead. This is all rough).
The idea is that 'you', the Commander, received a distress call from a remote orbital station somewhere in the backwaters of the galaxy. On arrival, you find three derelict ships drifting near the station, which is also derelict. Someone in your crew finds out there's a second, weaker message piggybacked onto the more powerful distress call, and that's where the trouble begins...
I don't know what to do with this piece; It's just a neat bit of writing, I think, getting the Last Message from a ghost station. I might rewrite this into something I can actually use later that doesn't involve space ships. It's good enough to be a scene, or something.
Anyway, enjoy. It amused me, so maybe it'll amuse you too.
