Far to the west, nestled in a high and chilly mountain, a young soul summits the peak to look out at the ocean beyond. All along the horizon are scattered many strange and foreign islands filled with mysterious and exotic cultures. He resolves that today will be the day that he sets out, his new skiff now finished and seaworthy. Down to the shore he eagerly bounds and then out he sets, the wind to his back and many tales ahead to be told under the warm sun and an ever clear blue sky...

Yes, I wanted to put some of these ethnic instruments in a different context so it sounded familiar but in a sort of exotic, fantasy-like way, as if this were a place separate from the foreign cultures we already know. There are some Japanese instruments, some African ones, and some Latin as well.
This is spectacular.
I love the wash of sounds between 1:10 and 1:30.
The piano part between 1:50 and 2:50 is hauntingly enchanting. I like the choice of percussion instruments in the following sections. The active strings really add an atmosphere of taking action.
when it took off at 3:40, I really loved it! Some really unique chords in there that I loved! I wish that section were a little longer before it calmed back down at 4:00.
The section that starts at 4:30 and ends at 5:00 makes me think that the adventurer is taking a rest at a local inn, maybe for food or conversation.
And after resting, he's off again at 5:35, chasing adventure. :) This section reminds me a little bit of the Muramasa soundtrack (FANTASTIC soundtrack and visually breathtaking game, get it if you havent yet!)
I really love 5:35 to the 6:51, it reeks of energy and adventurous spirit.
The slow section after that makes me think that maybe there's a companion that wants to go with him, but was too scared to travel side by side with him, but decided to follow behind.
I love everything about this piece. Definitely faved.

Thank you so much!! I love it when listeners hear their own stories happening to the music, when somebody tells me a story or scene they get while listening to my music I consider it the highest compliment I can get!
I was actually imagining the same thing 4:30-5:00, a scene at an inn and/or maybe a quick visit to a local market, a small splash of casual and exotic flavor before heading out again. :)
And I really like the image that came to you for the end! Very interesting :)
Thanks again, for listening and sharing what images came to you!

This is very well written, but like much theatric music it's a trifle hard to listen to because it turns so much. In essence, just as you get into the feel of one theme it changes.
This isn't a criticism; not all music is meant to be a Knopfler riff that you can listen to forever. Well composed as usual, Fox.

I know what you mean! It does turn very fast, partly because the piece is pretty long and I didn't want to make it longer, but also because I've been doing that with alot of my music lately since I'm trying to catch attention from directors and so music has to really say alot very quickly before it's passed over. I find that alot of music in films changes incredibly fast... I don't think directors think too much about pacing so films can end up being very busy and don't always breathe very well. The music cues end up being only a minute or two long, and each emotional point usually only gets a few seconds before it's a different emotion or texture! This isn't a bad thing, but it is definitely a different way to listen to music.
