roman19991 requested me that I use the live mummification scene of The Mummy, 1932, which, coincidentally, I watched a few months ago (another happy coincidence is that Turner Classic Movies is giving all the classic mummy movies this month! I've recorded all that I could!).
The idea was too juicy to pass up. Plus, I wanted to do something Halloween-related.

Then Genie appeared. With a box of cucumbers! I couldn't resist including 1999 The Mummy reference in there as well. Just substitute flesh-eating scarabs with cucumbers (for the uninitiated: cats hate cucumbers. It's a running joke in my works as of late).

I had a hankering to try inking again. Almost got careless with my poor selection of pens, but any mistakes were thankfully averted. Cleaning up the piece on computer took less than half an hour, which is great!

About Genie: it's the first time I've ever fully drawn him. The lack of any straight line in his design was a pain at first, but with practice I was able to get the hang of him. I came away with a new point of view in his design: Genie's design is an embodiment of joy. You can't be mad while drawing him! The eyes, the jawline, you will smile while working on him.

By the way, if Mirage looks a little odd to you, that's because her hair and ears have been tightly wrapped out of view. If I added the wrappings (excuse me, magic wrappings) on Mirage's forehead, we wouldn't be able to see how mad she is!
