While I was contemplating some designs I'd sketched for my next set of earrings, I got a little bit distracted by the natural quartz crystals I'd picked up last week in the mountains. So on the spur of the moment I grabbed a plate of silver and traced an idea on it then cut it out and bent and shaped this simple alternative setting for one of the nicer crystals. I still love making settings from a single plate where possible. This would probably count as a tension setting...in essence the crystal is 'pinched' between the two sides of the bracket which are connected by thin strips at the top running along the front and back, also keeping the crystal from sliding up. The chain is decorated with intermittent silver O-rings.
