You slowly make your way up the stairs, gripping the handrail to put some of your weight on that as the occasional step on the staircase groans loudly and you're still unsure about making your presence known. The carpeting continues up the steps all the way up to the second floor landing.
Here in the second floor you are greeted with two doors and a table covered with a faint layer of dust that shows that the place has been tidied at least somewhat recently. Above you on the ceiling hangs the cord to pull down the steps to the attic, which appears to be ominously open just enough to see how dark it is up there.
