(His story is way too long so let's shorten it slightly)
Duke, an American bred Chow Chow born in 1944, was formerly part of a secret government experiment to create super-enhanced war dogs.
I'll just say he was the most successful of the experiments. Duke ended up extremely smart enough to apply the most complex military tactics, able to heal major wounds in in minutes, and so far he's damn near immortal. (If you ever RPed with JC, her healing abilities came from him)
Starting the time during the Vietman war, he began leading a group of enhanced canines who can go in on their own in a war and act as assassins, spies, and sometimes they ended up on the front lines. They always do their jobs perfectly and with unmatched precision. Over the decades, Duke rose to rank of what the humans call Full General.
Eventually Duke escaped that life and took all of his subordinates with him. Well, all but one, his Lieutenant. (Remember the Psycho Electric-powered Wolf that often plagues JC? That's his Lieutenant)
Not long after his he formed a pack nicknamed the Grassland Motley, a group of all sorts of animals willing to put aside their differences and work together as a family unit. In the pack, bears and deer will call each other 'brothers' if they get close to one another.
Duke is an excellent judge of character. When you first meet him, he'll give you a long hard stare. If you feel like his eyes pierce into your soul then, they are. To him, others' souls are like opens books that he can read. Whatever cover you have, Duke can read right through. If he doesn't like what he reads, he's quick to say it. In spite of that though, the very same one he doesn't like could still be laughing with him and listening to war stories later on in life.
He is extremely tough, but in spirit, he's a gentle old dog. The only grandchild he ever knew was JC, and he spoiled her rotten. We're talking treats, trips into towns, stories galore, and lots of play dates. Almost every midday, you'd catch him asleep on his back with JC sound asleep on his belly from playing with Grandpapa all day.
Eventually the government caught up with him, and hunters specially taught to attack him finally dispatched of him in the worst way possible. They killed his youngest son, his 'daughter-in-law', then him. And worst of all, it happened right in front of JC and Duke had to watch as she trembled in fear, covered in her parents' blood, as his own life slowly ebbed away. All purposely triggered by his eldest son.
Pretty tragic, huh?
