The gnomes of gnomeworld domesticated these small ratite descendants with nonexistent forelimbs and hooved toes, usually called pighens. They’re the size of a kiwi bird and are ridden like horses, but will eat anything you put in front of them (including meat). Pighen eggs are a staple protein for many communities, and a single cooked egg can be a meal for about 6 gnomes. They are bred in a variety of colors and are kept most extensively by desert gnomes, since pighens are ideal for traversing the wide flat chaparral and grasslands of the east.
