Not really, you should be avoiding carbs if you're trying to lose unwanted fat.
In very basic terms there's three main nutrients you need to keep track of (you'll see people calling them macros)
->Proteins are the building blocks of muscle, you want to eat as much of these as you can. Eggs, chicken breast and lentils are your best bet.
->Carbs are like an instant energy source
->Fat is your body's energy reserves. You start burning fat when the body runs out of carbs to burn.
BUT! A common misconception is avoiding fats altogether, which is retarded because your body needs some of it (for producing testosterone for example and it really helps build muscle)
There's also vitamins and iron and other nutrients (micros) that you get from vegetables, fruit, seeds, etc. but don't worry.
There's also calories. Calories is the amount of energy you get from food and it determines weight loss: the amount of energy that you don't burn is stored as fat by the body. If you ingest more calories from food than the ones you burn, you gain weight.
There's a bare minimum of energy you need to use just for daily activities which is your TDEE, which you can calculate here:
https://tdeecalculator.net/
It's literally math. Calories gained from food - TDEE - calories spent on exercise = weight loss
That's nutrition 101, i really do urge you to get that app, it will help you track your macros and calories
"I wanna hit the gym so badly"
Just go and do it. It's not crazy expensive, it will be good for you, you'll feel a lot better once you start noticing a difference. Don't make excuses, just go. Don't be ashamed of making a fool of yourself or looking ridiculous in front of buff dudes, they all started somewhere, and trust me they'll be happy to give you advice if you ask.
Gym instructors usually teach you the basics but most of this stuff is online. They will probably give you a routine to start but if you're adventurous enough, or after a month of getting the hang of it, this is a good starting routine:
https://www.muscleandstrength.com/w.....novice-workout
As for routines, remember that there's two aspects to building muscle:
->Strength usually involves less repetitions per set (we're talking 4-6), more weight
>Hypertrophy is around 10 reps per set with less weight, this is what makes muscles bigger
You should try to balance both when starting out.
I know it's a lot to keep track of right now but if you have trouble just google it. Don't know what foods are good for X nutrient? Google. Don't know how to do an exercise? Google it. Hell, ask for people on the gym to check on your form to see if you're doing it right. Again people are usually happy to help.
Also if you're from the States I DO NOT recommend Planet Fitness. They make money off of poor suckers that go there, give up and forget to cancel their membership.
Best of luck dude
