Today I suddenly got the urge to draw something, so I dragged out my sketchbook (which I last drew in in 2007) and decided to produce a reference sheet for Kinto, because I needed one. I drew up a dorsal view to illustrate his markings and a close up side view of the head. Then I took pictures of the page.

Kinto is a wild ass, most similar to a kiang. I colored his markings without reference, so I ended up taking some liberties. I didn’t draw a ventral view because (a) there are no markings of note on his chest and (b) I have no idea how to draw chest muscles. Real kiangs have brown faces, but Kinto’s is off-white like the rest of his body (not plain white). Also, the tips of his ears should be dark brown like his mane and dorsal stripe. Kinto’s goatee is also dark brown; real kiangs don’t have goatees, but I do. I colored his eyes blue, but now that I think about it, I had decided in the past that they were gray and I forgot.

Also, this should illustrate why I’m a writer and not a visual artist.
