Trying to get the same results in Cycles as in VRay. The overall look is quite different, and many settings have to be changed to create a similar impression.
Here's two intermediary results: one with coarse hair and one with fine hair. The coarse hair creates unsightly shadows. The fine hair is okay, but if you look closely at the cheeks, you will find that the curve of the underlying skin becomes visible. Despite having 100 000 more hairs, the fine fur is so transparent (lack of density) that it cannot cover the skin.
In addition, the eyes are quite black. The missing iris actually is a secondary selection with a separate UVW mapping, and that has not been set up properly here. Cycles is using nodes for texturing - and while quite powerful, the system requires more effort to set up.
One of these days, all of that stuff is going into scraps, and I have purty pictures to show...
