Well, 0's GN Pattern is obvious, because it was supposed to make Setsuna go all hero-worshippy-thingy for Gundam. And then you add in Ribbons and his god complex… which is a whole Light/Lelouch god/demon comparison type thing in and of itself. Ribbons saw himself as a god and wanted power over humanity, and Setsuna was (more or less) a god who wanted to be one with humanity and help it change. That's what you get when your god character sees the source of his power as an end to war and fighting and a symbol of the peace to come. And when he isn't a whiny emo kid.
Well, for one thing, I don't think they'd gotten many Innovator names at that point. If I remember, the only Innovators they'd encountered were Tieria Erde (primary character), Ribbons Almark (weird name, but okay) and Hilling Care. So, it's not like they'd heard other names. Besides, with her weird hair color, maybe they just assumed her parents were hippies.
As for the nudity, how else are you going to prove that Tieria is male? Besides full-frontal nudity.
