A girl jumping out of a giant cake - we have seen it before, but it is never getting old. Or…?
Here are some little known facts:
The custom to let a girl jump out of a cake was introduced at a memorable occasion known as "The Girl Pie Dinner". As early as May 20th 1895, architect Stanford White had invited his friends to dinner at photographer James L Breese’s studio in New York. As desert a giant cake was carried in, out of which a girl jumped out, in the nude according to some of the guests, wearing a thin vale according to others. Her name was Susie Johnson and she was 16 years young. The unconfirmed rumour is that she committed suicide after the scandal, but no one knows for sure.
