Admit it. When you played Super Mario Bros 2 for the first time ever, you were expecting to be able to kill your enemies by jumping on them. Just like last time, right? I thought it was the neatest thing to be able to pick up and throw enemies and vegetables to defend yourself in this game.

I rented it from the local video store, and they didn't like to include the instruction manuals with rentals because they would come back in pieces. Many years later they took to putting in black and white copies of the manuals, but that was closer to the Super Nintendo era. Anyway, I had to figure out how to play the game on my own the first time, by learning and experimenting.

I made this scene out of Perlers because it brings back a memory of how the first few times I ran through the first level, I didn't know the POW block was something that could be picked up. I thought it was just a decoration. I thought I really discovered something hidden when I learned I could make an earthquake in this game for the first time.

And also because Shyguys are my favorite enemy in the Mario Universe.
