Centennial of the Armistice November 11, 1918 - 2018
One Hundred years Ago, on this Date, on the !!th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, the "Great War" ended. A century on, echoes of that war, and the decisions made right after it reverberate around the world today. In the United States, this date is marked now as Veteran's Day, where we honor and give thanks to living veterans for their duty to this country. In the Commonwealth it is known as Armistice Day, or Remembrance Day, to remember those that have fallen. Photo by

Oh, absolutely
I actually used to serve mounted on a horse on ANZAC day parades. My regiment made the charge at Beersheba, so the parades were always led by a troop of us in WW1 uniform on horseback. My great grandfather was also a light horseman. He was still deployed in the middle east until 1920

Read the book, "The Sleepwalkers: How Europe Went To War in 1914". Interlocking treaties and alliances made it hard to back out once things started rolling.
