Taken May 2007 at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.
The lions are an elderly couple, Jake and Juanita that had been living in the zoo together for 8 years or so. They were both 16 years old at the time.
Since then they have been removed from the exhibit and placed in quarantine to make room for the zoo's two new lions, 8-year old south African purebred lions Hubert and Kalisa.
The lions (especially Juanita) were as tame as pussycats and often showed their affection for one another.
