Nexus wasn't just a crack marksman, he was also a bit of a pyrotech. Robotnik was expanding and building a factory far too close to Nexus' forest hide out for comfort. The course of action was obvious. He infultrated the site and planted an explosive device where it would do the most damage.
Things didn't go as planned. As Nexus ran out he saw Becky sneaking into the construction site, completely oblivious to the bomb about to go off. He checked the timer on his watch. There was only enough time if he...
He ran back, heading straight for her, ignoring the guards as they opened fire all around him. In mere seconds, Nexus unfolded his wings, which ripped through his coat, grabbed Becky and flew off at speed, only just escaping the blast radius of the bomb. Becky had taken a hit, but it was only minor. Before losing consciousness she could have sworn she heard Nexus say "...sorry."
So, here's the coloured version of the sketch
purity very very kindy drew for me the other day. I loved it the moment I laid eyes on it XD
I got the idea of the explosion last night, and thankfully I managed to google up an appropriate image. Overall I'm extremely pleased with how this came out. So much so, it's my new wallpaper.

There's something about this picture that I find both dramatic (but not overly so) and quite sweet at the same time. The lighting effects are stunning, and they give the fireball a real presence. Nice motion blur, too; just enough to give the impression of speed, but not too much as to distort the image. The bold colours and tonal range here is very nice.
To summarise: awesome. I've seen the other pictures in your gallery, and those bold colours and the thick line-art really work well together. Gives it a real cartoony feel, IMO.

This remains one of my favourite pictures. Everything just kinda came together with it. The motion blur only works, I think, because it doesn't use the main picture. It's actually the Beckt & Nexus part copied, blurred and placed underneath.
