I was asked (commissioned) by my Spinning and Weaving guild to create three sheep for the members that were leaving the guild since they were moving elsewhere. So I decided to give myself a little challenge with making each one by using the fiber's breed to make the sheep itself.
So, I made a Merino from Merino, a Romney from Romney and a Borderleister from a 95% Border Leister 5% Alpaca mix (it was the only one that i had in the amount that I needed.)
Romney sheep do have quite soft fiber, and they are one of my favorites for working with.
