Mecha floated through the space between Earth and Luna, feeling the weakened photons tickle the back of his fur. Space, the most basic unit of comprehensible existance. It meant only that part of reality existed at all. He could see the waves of radio frequencies emenating from hundreds of kilometers below, and feel them breaking over him like a ship at sea. How noisy this insignificant speck of the cosmos was. And yet he wouldn't trade it for anything. All throughout his blood vessels, homonal triggers activated hemoglobin, aligning metalloproteins with the magentic field of Earth, bathing in it, calling to it.
He could feel himself drawn, gradually moving towards the world, just enough for gravity to grasp and suck him in. Energy began ripple, projected from every cell, flaring behind him as biononic functions began to wrap it into a usable shape, forming glittering fractal feathers of exotic radiation, ready to shield and guide him from the dark void of heaven back down to the mortal Earth.
