[Vilous Lore Update] Ranged Weapons of Vilous!
Hello fans!
After a few discussions regarding alternative Eltus weapons and such, I have quite a few great concepts to show you. We know of the Shigu melee weapons, however there are occasionally questions about firearms and ranged weapons.
Do remember, firearms are not a good option when considering current Vilous technology. (Obtaining the gunpowder necessary is a dangerous, risky process, making it a very very expensive commodity; Gun crafting would be unlikely to create much profit when considering the cost of ammunition and intricate layers to the manufacturing process layers)
As such, today we shall focus on other types of ranged weapons.
Do keep in mind that Shigu made use of bladed weapons as per their religious beliefs and Rain’s policy.
In contrast, Reono hunters would use bows, crossbows and slingshots for hunting prey.
Bows were almost exclusively an Agudner tool. However, slingshots were used by both Agudners and Sergals alike. While these are all useful for hunting (Reono’s main industry), the thrown spear remains the traditional weapon of choice of Northern brave hunters.
These weapons were useful against both Talyxians and other Eltus. (However, keep in mind that Reono people did not wish to kill other Eltus. They preferred to stick to hunting Talyxians.)
Salt-loaded Fukiya (blowpipes) were used to combat Talyxian enemies, and were used by both Sergal and Agudners. This tool has seen use throughout all areas.
Fukiya (Blowpipes) and airguns could use darts/needles as ammunition, similar to how Mountain Leeches fire at their prey. But the blowpipe is not typically used for killing shots.
Throwing spears are effective against large and strong targets (like the Actinia from Manga Ep 3) for hunting northern animals.
In contrast, blowpipes more are effective against smaller animals, such as a horde of Dondokos, thieves, escaped livestock, pets, etc for catching.
For example, they can be used for Dondokos hunting. By making use of a vehicle and shooting a paralyzing salt needle towards a Dondoko, eventually, other Dondokos will begin to attack the weakened one, thus Hunters will have an easy time catching them.
I hope you have enjoyed this update concerning ranged weapons in Vilous!

Notice of my new Patreon policy:
Due to the new policy of my Patreon Vilous content, I’d like to share the 100% decided-upon lore concepts as a public release! Meanwhile, the full and original size versions of the artwork, undecided lore and raw concepts are still provided for my $5 Patreon members, to preview and get sneak peeks to Vilous! In addition to this, I'd like to share the in-depth lore. As this lore is not required to have a good understanding of the manga or create rich fan creations, it will certainly expand upon the universe. As such, it will remain an exclusive Patreon-only bonus. This will continue to feature extra backstory details and further explanations behind the public lore! Thank you!
