Eric was always known for having a giant crush on his childhood friend, Vulpix named Helen Rosenberg. They grew up together, played together, went to school together. When they were 10 years old, her family moved from Twinleaf Town to Kanto region, and he was severely devastated. But as soon as he saw an article in the newspapers about a prestigious Pokemon Combat Academy in Viridian City, he saw it as an opportunity to get closer to his friend, so he began with his hard training to be more ready once he gets there. Several years later, his parents managed to sign him in and on the very first day, they met again. Needless to say, they were both thrilled about attending the Academy together. As time passed and Senior year approached, Eric grew feelings for Helen that were more than just regular friendship, and he decided to ask her to be her date for the Fall Formal. Once he approached to ask her, she interrupted him by saying how she managed to ask a certain Ninetales mon she had a crush on to be her date, and at first he was fine with that, but seeing them kiss at the dance crushed him. Next few days he spoke to no one, even to Helen who was worried about him. Her new boyfriend seemed also worried so he told her to try and see what went wrong. She managed to make him talk as they were alone, and he told her all about his feelings towards her. She understood him well, but explained that all the time she saw him only as a brother and a friend, and after a longer conversation, they agreed to remain as friends. As soon as he came back to normal, as if the fate wanted it so, he became friends with a Swampert gal with attitude, Molly Aeleen, but with time, their friendship soon blossomed into a steady relationship that kinda softened the problematic girl. Needless to say, Eric is extremely happy about her....
