Another character concept sketch for my Post apocalypse African setting.

Bahati is a blacksmith and mechanic at Drum Town, in fact she nearly singlehandly keeps the place running as a general fixer for machines, engines, weapons and structures. And if something breaks and they've run out of spare parts she is able to make some makeshift replacements in no time. She used to have more help but most of the other skilled workers had been killed in the battle when the lions took over Drum Town, so Bahati has a rough time keeping up with all the work while training some new workers at the same time.

Time under the lions rule had been especially tough on her, having lost her mate during a sudden raider attack a few years before and then seeing her son get run over outside the walls when the lions first attacked it nearly destroyed her. She focussed herself into her work for the community and began drinking to drown the sorrows, but then came the betrayal as the lions were let into the town. in her rage she joined the fight, managing to kill two of the betrayers and one of the lions in her sudden charge before she was struck down by a blade. She was spared though as one of the only mechanics still left in town and after just barely healing up she was put under house arrest and forced to work, keeping her in check by threatening her few remaining herd members.

She had started making plans to form a rebellion shortly before their leader Jehlani was caught attempting to assassinate the leader of the lions, the following display of cruelty took what little fight the townspeople had left out of them for a long time. It wasn't untill the Outcastes arrived that she and a few others finally found the courage again to fight back. Taking advantage of the chaos of battle the plan was to sabotage the lions' defense and then try to drive off the attackign hyenas. They were successful in disrupting the defenses but they hadn't counted in the hyenas actually managing to break through and win the battle, flooding into the town. Bahati could only watch from a distance as another invader walked through the town and coming to a halt in the center, facing off against the gathered townspeople. To everyone's surprise though the hyenas called out to end hostilities and that the remaining lions be surrendered to them, promising justice to the people.

The hyenas kept their word, puttign the lions on trial one by one and eventually Bahati saw justice as well for her son, however despite that she was still opposed for a long time to lettign the hyenas use Drum Town as an outpost. Now Bahati just barely tolerates the hyenas as she can't deny they've been good to the town thus far, but she still doesn't trust them and keeps a watchful eye on them expecting another betrayal.
