I really would like to learn drawing clouds, and this picture is an attempt for that. I still don’t know what is the best and easiest way for me. I tried to use different brushes, and I tried drawing them in a cartoonish way as well. So far I've come to the conclusion that it depends on the situation, wich one works the best. When I draw it in a catoonish way, I feel the result is closer to my taste, but sadly it’s really time consuming (for now, at least). So it seems it won’t be beneficial in my comic projects when I have to finish a page in a limited time. So most of the cases it will be better to use the cartoony style just for single images or in short projects.
By the way, I still have difficulties to “feel” the clouds and to understand their shapes. I feel I still need tons of practice. (Like in so many other things too.) Somehow I really want to be good at this, because something really touches me about clouds :D There’s something calming and inviting about them.
I used references for the pictures, and I just thought to put my characters enjoying the view on the picture as well :)

I spent summers in the Midwest, and because of the huge, uninterrupted skies there I became a bit obsessive about clouds. High clouds, Puffy cotton ball clouds, storm clouds and creepy mammatus clouds. If i do backgrounds I like to include clouds because they add so much to mood of a scene. But yes, clouds are hard to do plausibly. What helped me was this old tutorial by Steven Stahlberg for digitally painted, photo realistic clouds.

There is also a more stylized approach used in the backgrounds of Anime.

But above all, collect photos, for color and shape reference, because clouds can be more strange than you would think.

Of course they helpful, thank you so much ^^ I really want to start sink in this topic. ( hm, Yet, I'm interested in that when clouds can define the full mood of a picture.) Oh boy. It's so hard. But it's time to learn as always.
I feel I start to understand the fitting colors schemes between sky and the clouds, but I'm still so far from the confident use. Thanks again.
