Further tales from Andur. A regular in the Sultan's palace is Jedel. She is part demon, and part deer. She is also capable performing amazing acts of magic. Sometimes without working all the cause and effects out first.

Now Jedel is sometimes confused by us Newcomers, visitors to Andur's version of the 14th century, because we come from a reality where magic has effectively gone away, and yet many of the most powerful spells she's learned have come studying our popular culture? She's found anime and manga to be an excellent source of material. However recently she's discovered a series novels about a young boy who is an orphan who discovers his parents were wizards. Then he's sent off to a wizards academy where he gets into all kinds of adventures and plays sports on broomsticks! essential to much of the magic in these novels is magic wands.

With this knowledge in hand and her own, somewhat fuzzy, ideas of how magic worked in those stories, she's begun the process of figuring out how to make her own magic wand. She's made several of them now, and has learned, sort of, from each one she's built. Unfortunately for the palace she has a tendency of ramping up her testing without considering the effects on the decor.

Now there are a few things about Jedel and her special heritage that can manifest in odd and amusing ways. When she gets particularly happy about something her tail twirls around in a counter-clockwise fashion. At the same time it makes this little wooden ratchet sound. Also under certain circumstances if she comes up with an inspired idea instead of getting typical cartoon light bulb over her head there is brief burst of light like a camera flash. Then over her head there forms a tiny mushroom cloud complete with soft distant boom sound. It is visible to other people and it has given her location away on occasion.
