The night had gotten late, and Sevan hadn’t received anything over the encrypted channels for the last few hours. In a last ditch attempt for ANY action, he flipped the toggle for the audio sensors on and leaned in, listening for the slightest ‘out-of-place’ sound.

Hearing nothing but the faintest of static, and the natural ambience of his mech’s surroundings, he switched the toggle off and leaned back with a muted sigh. This was bullshit, and he knew it. He looked over his dash, making the eighth check on all his systems and resources, then gazed out the canopy of his cockpit, trying to will ANYTHING to happen.

He watched the ridge-lines, and surrounding foliage closely, but not a sound, not a single movement got his attention. “Christ...” he huffed to himself as he threw a hand behind his head in wait. Within minutes he was falling fast asleep, he was sure of his mech’s capabilities, and if there was anything of note, he would be the first to know.

Might as well get some shut eye before the shit hit the fan…
