this was an interesting experience.
Not only is this my second knife ever made but it is also my first time working with brass,
it is also my first time working with resin.
The handle is 2 layers of yellow pine sandwiching a piece of red oak.
The design in the yellow pine is "cold cast" brass *epoxy resin with a LOT of brass powder mixed in* it is actually quite shiny but it doesn't show up in the pictures unfortunately. And with it being my first time working with resin, and cold casting, it didn't come out quite right. At the end of the handle there is plenty of brass color but there is no actual metal to give it a shine. guess I'll have to keep making more stuff so I can keep trying lol.
The blade to handle ratio is kinda backwards due to the sheer weight of the brass blade but it is actually pretty well balanced.
and things are not quite done, I'm going to be getting it sprayed with high shine automotive clear coat tomorrow to preserve the brass and to make it really POP.
and now I need to come up with a sheath to match.

sanded and steel wooled for hours and in person it looks great! but the pictures look like crap, go figure lol.
And it's getting a high gloss coating on the whole thing today so maybe it'll be more photogenic afterward either that or it's just a diva giving the finger to the paparazzi
