Drew this as a semi-parody of the Kindgom comic book cover by Alex Ross. When it came to adding background characters, I couldn't decide whether to go for the same that Ross did in his image, or do a simple straight on "gathering" type of shot.
B/C I couldn't make up my mind and the need to go back into comic production again, this piece just sat upon my desk for at least a month.
Did a quick color job so not a total waste.
Pose makes me think he's shouting "Yatta!"

Thy Kingdom Come cover. Although what I was getting at was Alex Ross had sketched out a cover similar to it when DC was talking with him to do a sequel to the Kingdom Come, which was to be The Kingdom. But Ross was dissatisfied with where it was going and dropped out leaving the sketch undone until the Justice Society books this year.
I recall reading an interview somewhere around the time of the event and how Mr. Ross was very unhappy with where the whole thing went. The interview covered his version of the concept, and I remember wishing that DC had gone that route with the idea instead. I'll have to go back and look at my JSA issues for that. I've been meaning to re-read the story anyway after looking through my Absolute Kingdom Come again recently.
