Two more days passed before Hank finally shrunk down to normal.
Everyone - especially the children, with all their youthful curiosity - eagerly asked him how he felt.
"Felt?" he answered. "I can't really describe what I felt, it's so much beyond amazing I can't express it!"
"So, how big you got?!" exclaimed Sting. "We managed to see you so big your eye was filling the sky, but the next day you vanished!"
"It would be more accurate to say you grew too big for us to see," rationalized Anansi.
"How big? Well, at the moment you talk about, I was big enough to hold the entire world in my hand, it was even smaller than a dust speck for me. The following day - so, yesterday - I got big enough to have in my hands a whole bunch of worlds turning around the sun. And today, I got so big it was billions of all these bunches of suns and worlds that I could hold in one hand! They were all so small for me that I could only see them as one big mass of light!"
"I guess that's when you acquired control of this power," commented Flip.
"Yep. I don't know how to describe it, but I could feel that control come. I also felt that, like Anansi said, I could grow infinitely."
"You weren't tempted to try?" asked curiously Willy.
"I was, but I was starting to miss you all, so I prefered to come back. But I fully intend to try sometime!"
A few more words were exchanged, after what it was decided that it was more than time to come back to the meadow.
"Well," sighed Flip, "I guess it's goodbye, Anansi."
The kids moaned sadly. In the two days that passed, the traveling hermit had won a place in their affection with his kind, curious personality and his incredible stories.
"It was nice seeing you again. I hope your next searches for stories will go well."
"Actually... I'm old, Flip, and weary of traveling. I intend to retire from searching stories and find a place to settle and share them with people who will listen to an old spider like me. Although I don't know where to go," he admitted.
"... If you want to come to the meadow with us, you're more than welcome," smiled Maya.
"... Thank you, my young friend," smiled the storyweaver.
And thus, they were not five, but six as they took the way back to the meadow.
