Nothin' like the old fishin' hole for family bonding
So This was commissioned by
Tazel of her Saturday D&D Character. I think she explains it better than I ever could.:
"Preamble to picture:
H'rana Chikkik, mongoose beastfolk, had been through a lot with her party - she had unwisely allowed her to be rebuilt into a 'mech suit', found a way to get out of it, but accidentally leaving a part of her consciousness in it, and was getting embroiled in the mystery and responsibility of being a Guardian of Magic (Despite her gunslinging ability). She even used a high tech facility to give herself hawk wings. Because flying gunslinger magic mongoose was an awesome idea.
With the paladin of her party having gone through a radical change that required the support of her surviving sisters, H'rana became homesick for her own family - fishers in their coastal village of Kekikkorah. In her youth, she was exiled one night from the village for daring to strike the village elder (for suggesting she not take up combat and be satisfied with being a fish cook), so she was not sure the town would welcome her back. She had not made contact with her family for years after the incident, not seeing or hearing from them either.
In her paranoia, she arranged a complex plan, including sneaking herself in to the village in the form of a wolf accompanying the party. Behind closed doors with most of her family present, she revealed her true form, and much to her surprise and bliss, she was received with open arms by all of her family members.
All except the youngest, Vakka Chikkik - the one brother who looked up to H'rana the most, and was most heartbroken when she left without saying goodbye. And when H'rana returned, Vakka ran away, still reminded of the hurt he felt when she, he believed, abandoned the family.
Their oldest brother Tytis had become the new village elder in H'rana's absence, and as such, decided to throw a day-long celebration for the return of the prodigal mongoose. Everyone was having fun - but H'rana was worried as Vakka had not showed. Her father Jakann gave her a fishing pole and pointed her to a pier near the edge of the small docks for the village. "I think you need a little fishin', hon." was all he said as he walked away.
When H'rana went to the dock, she found Vakka fishing on the edge of it, thinking. Silently, she walked up, tucked her wings behind her, sat down next to her brother, and cast her line. They didn't talk for a good ten minutes. Then the conversations. The guilt H'rana felt. The anger and worry of Vakka. The love they had for each other as family. Vakka even confessed of his budding magic abilities - something H'rana promised she would help foster.
Of course, this happy scene was to soon be disrupted by the three other brothers in her family, hidden in the shrubline behind the doc, waiting to shove H'rana in the river. And they did.
Sadly this picture does not reflect the events that followed - the other brothers' playful hiding in the bushes, the bum rush of them to push H'rana in the river. And H'rana's magical cancellation of gravity enough to teach them a lesson they would never forget. Especially Vakka, who was as enthused as ever to keep studying magic.
It truly was the best day of her life."
