So, I have this Craft Swap* I'm doing, with a pre-20th century theme. My swap partner's top five choices were: Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Leonardo Da Vinci, Middle Earth, and the Big Bang. We had to make three presents, one large, one medium, and one small, and this is part of my large item. It's an Ancient Greek bathing kit, and this is a scrub I made using a VERY old school method of making things smell pretty. I steeped a rose and two stalks of Jasmine flowers in olive oil, and then removed the flowers. I mixed this infused oil with shea butter, honey from my hive, and lavender buds.
Apparently, bathing was pretty important to the ancient Greeks. They usually used perfumes made from steeping strong smelling herbs like rosemary and patchouli- not flowers- but my Rosemary died and I had all this lavender I had gathered at the beginning of the summer just begging to be used. So. I did this, and the rest of the oil was made into a tiny little 2-ounce bottle of perfume I'm sending, along with two goat milk soaps and a bath bomb that smells like roses.
