This is a commissioned character presentation created by
damiem .
This is the fourth (and also in a way, fifth!) of several character presentations that I and members of my online D&D group have commissioned Damien to depict. These presentations show off the Player Characters (PC's) of our Tyranny of Dragons campaign's adventuring party known as the Dragon Tamers. The party currently includes seven members. (Since I am the DM, I am technically not one of them!)
As of this submission we are currently in "part two" of the campaign, The Rise of Tiamat!
This dynamic duo of PC's are the diminutive brothers Ia'ni Temnot (male kobold warlock of the True Neutral alignment) and Mee'ni Temnot (male kobold rogue of the Chaotic Neutral alignment). They are played respectively by the wonderful
winterwight and the totally sweet
connercoon .
While kobold culture has no sense of nuclear family due to their highly tribalistic nature, both Ia'ni and Mee'ni had a close, brother-like relationship ever since they were hatchlings. Along with the kobold named Mai'ni and an orphaned half-orc boy they called Mo, these would-be adventurers eked out their own home and lived underneath the streets of the big city of Baldur's Gate. They lived some distance from their home tribe called the Temnots, a tunneling group of "city kobolds."
In order to to make a living both Ia'ni and Mee'ni made frequent forays to the surface, navigating the slums and alleys of Baldur's Gate as they scavenged. The two brothers had clashing ideas on how to acquire wealth, however. For Ia'ni it involved selling goods to earn gold, while for Mee'ni it involved taking "unwanted" valuables and, well. Keeping them. Forever. Despite this point of contention the two brothers would gather what they could and would wheel out their little wagon of goods to sell on the street. In order to boost their inventory the two would craft their own goods as well, such as creating (badly) drawn city maps out of roof shingles or touting round rocks as "magical golem eggs" which will one day "hatch and protect you." Practically everyone on the street knew these two were mischievous yet ultimately harmless con men, but that didn't stop the little brothers from trying.
One day the Dragon Tamers adventuring party ventured into Baldur's Gate and the party temporarily hired the two kobolds as guides. However, Ia'ni and Mee'ni's true call to adventure came from a huge underground meeting among several kobold tribes known as the Great Gathering. While attending the Great Gathering the two brothers found themselves addressed by the chieftain of the Temnots, the venerable kobold Nen'zum'ra'dek. Nen'zum'ra'dek charged Ia'ni and Mee'ni to venture out onto the surface and gather treasure for the many tribes with their new adventuring companions. The purpose of accruing wealth was to prepare the tribes for a grave event: the oncoming threat of the evil Cult of the Dragon. While kobolds by nature viewed dragons with adoration and god-like status, the Great Gathering of kobolds saw differently, realizing that the dragons had been mistreating kobolds as slaves and food for centuries. In fact, the Cult of the Dragon would be even worse for those who chose to serve them. It was time for a change, even if not all kobolds (such as the malevolent Yak'sharra tribe) agreed with their newfound belief of carving out independent kobold greatness.
While traveling with the Dragon Tamers the two kobold brothers have proven themselves time and again with their cunning, albeit with the caveat of guaranteed mischief making and sticking one's muzzle where it doesn't belong. In addition, among many kobolds the two have begun to increase their fame as renowned treasure hunters. As a warlock, Ia'ni's eldritch powers has manifested from a nameless, primal patron known as the Devourer, while Mee'ni has developed incredible skills as a stealthy thief. The two also have a fat pet rat named Woodchip who lives in their small wagon.

Aw sweet, they look so cool!
I really like that scarf Ia'ni's rocking. The red really brings a sense of energy to him.
Although, there's something I'm missing, like... like...
"Ia'ni and Mee'ni had a close, brother-like relationship ever since they were hatchlings. Along with the kobold named Mai'ni and an orphaned half-orc boy they called Mo"
Ia'ni Mee'ni Mai'ni Mo
I'm not sure whether to be upset or to applaud.
