Nothing specific inspiring this one, just a general notion that eats at me from time to time and I suppose I felt I needed to sketch up. Then again, maybe it's just the preacher in me rearing her head again. *smirks*
People often like to throw out some variation of the old adage "In fighting a monster one must be careful that one does not become a monster". Generally this is because they have nothing to add to a conversation on a adversarial topic and it makes them sound deep or interesting to a naive passerby. That or they're the kind of person who takes everything to a presumptive extreme and feels that such hyperbole needs to be addressed any time said topic is discussed. *pops her neck* In brief, this mentality is irritating to me.
However, like many things overused to the point of nearly being meaningless, there is still some truth to it and it's a good point to recall, particularly so for those seeking to emulate Lucifer's example. In today's society, religious fundamentalists of all stripes are more and more brazenly pushing for or committing barbaric horrors with no justification beyond their own superstition. An atheist student is expelled from a public school for refusing to recite bible passages, a man is found having disowned, beaten or murdered his daughter for losing her virginity, a church pastor or christian politician publicly calls for the eradication of "the gays", every day, a new abomination is discovered.
We want to lash out at these people. We want our idea of justice to be done. We want to strike back at them with every bit of the hatred that they have imbued in us, grind them into offal with nothing but our fists until we feel that the balance has been restored and we can be human again.
Maybe they deserve it. *shrugs* Maybe. But we are not them. We are not them -and we must never become so.
By popular fiction, Lucifer herself did not strike down the tyrant she refused, nor his servants nor his slaves. She turned her back on the entire lot and went off to her own existence, encouraging others to follow suit. *smiles* If only we would all strive to such an ideal. What interesting creatures that would make us, eh? *chuckles* This is the world, lovely watcher. There is no other. Make it count. One World and One Love. Ave Lucifer.

Fighting for love should never become a love of fighting. I've said this before, I still believe it to be true. I don't want to oppress anyone any more than I want to be oppressed. It's not right when they do it, it can't be right when I do it. Yes, I do take joy in their lamentation as the "gays" and "socialists" and "sinners" gain ground and recognition for their position. But it's because we have to fight them so hard and put up such a tough front against an enemy that will not relent. It's because throwing oneself at one's enemy with all you got leads into blind fury where you can't even see the cause you were trying to uphold in the first place. All you see is a target. Something to be conquered. Crushed. But that's what started the war in the first place. Even good intentions need checks and balances, and maintaining perspective during a tough fight is always important. Thank you very much for sharing this, darling.
No, don't eff them! They may like that and probably manage to procreate!
Joking aside... these guys make me claw the walls. This kind of idiots are why I am unable to be a woman, even while it would then mean I am "gay" in a sense... which would kind of be the opposite effect they want now, would not it.
But they would be super angry ifn say, an imam would say that they will imprison Christians or something...
In these times, I really wish I could just get these extremists a month-long LARP in a siberian gulag as political prisoners, or a veil-of-ignorance kimd of LARP, where the proposed idea gets tried on them. Shooting the gays? Now a firing squad showsup to shoot him with salt bullets on spots what will really hurt. Chemical torture? They get injected with some very crippling disease, and the medication is left on hold until they can pray it away. Deport them? In the middle of the night, a big black car stops, with two really well armed guys taking them off to a remote location, lock them in, with the locks being outside the place...
I know this is evil, but here is the deal - I don't WANT this to happen. It would make a very nasty bit in me giggle in joy, but I would find it inhumane still, and hope it would never happen, but such people seem to be dismissive for reason... Like how "the gays" make up a miniscule 2-5% or so in their population, would not be dangerous, but killing them is really, REALLY alike what a certain politician wanted, who also ruined a style of mustaches forever.
And they don't get it.
Sorry... I am just getting really angry on these.

Being better than my enemies...it's so very difficult sometimes. Sometimes I do verbally tear into them when I se them trying to harm others, but I never want to stoop to trying to deny them their freedoms like they've so long fought to deny me of mine...even if I do at times fantacise about the destruction of those hate-mongering tyrants.
