This is one of the first pictures I'd ever done that really stood out to me and said "I can do more with my art". It's by far the oldest image I have saved. 2012.

Kix and
Asswings who were not only my clients, but all friends who shared the hype for a game that was coming out. I took this commission as the means of getting Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the 3DS. I was able to and get a whole lot more. One of the biggest payloads of cash I'd ever got from art. I blasted past my goal and I was able to take on a lot of responsibilities myself, such as food and gas. This image didn't just buy me a video game, but was my first taste of what life could be like if I had income. It was nuts. I was still a teenager when this came out. I'd just gone to FC2012, Asswings had spent most of that con with me and it was the coolest experience I'd had, and they were there the day they made their Lovar sergal character and showed it to me.
Nostalgia goggles put aside, Monster Hunter and I have had a very unique history. One of mostly FOMO. I mean I went to such lengths as buying a Linksys WiFi AD HOC receiver chip for the one friend I had I knew owned Monster Hunter Freedom Unite to try and play it online because I was desperate for anyone to play it with. Gosh I just can't not be nostalgic when it comes to monster hunter! The games are so good. The skill you get from it carries with you. You get good at hunting monsters and knowing opportunities, and it's a "grind" game but it's never a grind to play. You find some friends and you wanna play retro, you all hop in and snap of the finger you're hunting monsters like total badasses. Making the sweet gear and digging through the rough to find the items you need. Gosh man. I love it. I love it so much. The designs of monsters and worlds and themes and music. It's for sure my favorite Capcom franchise, no contest.
Anyway the image seriously speaks for itself. Everyone has their own unique tastes of gear and roles, and everyone's a participating member of the quest. I don't remember exactly each armor but... Narga gunner female, Rathian male, white fatalis armor and yian kut ku oh. I guess I do remember! Ahahaha. All very appropriate and fun outfits to wear. I love this pic. I love it so much man. I loved bragging about it to all the people who thought I was gonna do nothing but "make porn all my life like a neckbeard" and so on. Man. I'm just full of feelings with this one. I'm sorry.
Enjoy, and hunt on you new generations of hunters. I've never been the kind of person who stays glued to gaming trends. I only ever got the "new" games a couple times in my life and this was one of them but I still mostly played by myself cos it's what I know. Doing things solo. I never beat Dire Miralis, btw. My biggest shame. I gotta buy a 3DS again someday when things are better and get back to it. "Theme of Love" in Gen 3 is so good.
God I didnt even talk about Tri, and how it's the only game I played online on the Wii, or how me and Unifawn would stay up and skype and like the only online monster hunter I ever did more than one night multiplayer and all the fun of going to the Moga guild hall and killing our first Jhen Moran.
uwu Another time, I suppose. Another place. Maybe, another possibility, things coulda been different. But I treasure those memories so much. Even if they were never as consistent and constant as everyone else's experiences.
