Two of the five members of Shadow Fox and my first set of original characters for my science fiction short stories, Vasili Ilyushin (laying prone) and Crystal Shadowfire (leaning against the sandbags).

The sniper duo overlooks a city street during the early stages in a newly erupted conflict...is it full out war, or just a local skirmish? Only time will tell for sure.

Vasili's rifle is the legendary Dragunov sniper rifle, capable of a hair splitting .36 MOA accuracy and a range of up to 1,400 meters. Effectively invulnerable to corrosion and harsh climates, the Dragunov can put rounds on target in conditions that would leave other precision weapons inoperable.

Crystal is armed with the Special Application Battle Rifle, or SABeR/Saber, a 7.62x51mm rifle based on the AR-10 pattern. Forged of titanium and featuring a short stroke gas piston and chrome lined barrel for increased reliability.
It is also a dual purpose rifle and can switch out from being a close quarters combat rifle with a 12 inch barrel to a sniper rifle with a 20 inch barrel in under 15 seconds.
