Done for my Directed Themes class. I chose to illustrate some more current issues people are running into with the environment. I thought it would be interesting to present these illustrations with collections of articles, possibly in a book format. The main point of doing illustrations like these would be to put more of a storytelling kind of twist (so instead of the stock photo image of cars in a traffic jam, there would be something more emotionally moving to the reader).

This one was admittedly a bit of a struggle I think because I didn’t have a specific story to follow. (Well, I did at first, but at the research stage I started seeing all these connections to different stories and got a bit overwhelmed with the complexity of things :/ ) So… after going back to the theme for the class… the paintings I did before were in a way asking “how would you react to…” In this case it’s how would you react if you were set in a brown land with dark clouds constantly circling above?
