Had a pretty bad bout of IBS that lasted all night, all morning and has only just loosened its grip in the last hour.
I still feel very crampy and painful but going to be napping it off when I can manage sleep.
Some people say IBS is just like, a sore tummy or needed to 'go' more often, but I will tell you now it is neither. Its angry, painful, makes your whole body tense up when having an episode. Keeps you awake all night for fear you need to 'go' again. The cramps also keep you awake, but even when your done, the next 2 days feel like you've been through a blender, beater and ran a marathon all in one. It hurts, your energy vanishes and you lay in bed or on the sofa just wishing you felt better.
I've been tested for everything related to IBS, but mine is just a bad case due to anxiety, stress and random food triggers.
Sure, its not the worst thing in the world to have, but to someone who has IBS? Its no joke and not taken lightly. It hurts. A lot.
I deal with mine with peppermint capsules, water and sleeping, also lay down as much as possible due to conflicts with Sciatica. :(
Sorry to mope. :(

Sorry to hear you’re having so much trouble with the condition D:
I don’t have IBS, but I’m confused as to how there’s no cure for it, because if IBS is essentially a spastic colon (or so I understand), why is it so hard for scientists to find a way to calm it? Surely the colon isn’t that complex of an organ.

I hate this kind of pain, it's the worse ever! :( I understand your pain because I have the very same issues. I also have IBS problems with my gut. The only time I get triggers is when I eat certain things for a long period of time like dairy products and foods with wheat in them.
My stomach is very sensitive to these kinds of foods. I wish it wasn't but it is and it sucks. One time I was on my way home from visiting the zoo over the summer and I literally had to stop at a pharmacy to buy a bag of peppermints to get rid of my nausea and stomach aches due to pressure in my gut. Man it hurt when that happened.

Its not usually in my stomach, its in the lower abdomen after something doesn't agree with me or I get anxious/stressed. I think last night my dinner was just a wee too potent spicy wise. Usually i'm okay with a kick or so but think after the gig and stress possibly my guts decided to go into overload. :/ It does build up.
I used to have bad scarring in my stomach after a few ulcers went south and nuked part of my stomach, had the worst gas and stomach upset for 4-5 years, every day on the dot. Thankfully everything healed up and I was left with a little sensitivity. :P
Just got unlucky I guess.
But I understand the gut pressure can get a little intense, I find peppermint tea the best cure for that, the warmth helps ease the stomach, if it helps you I can really suggest carrying a bottle of water with peppermint infused teabags in the water. :) Or a flask of warm tea.
Someday there will be a proper cure for IBS and not just home remedies. :)

Ah okay, yeah I bet that has to suck big time. I also take special vitamins every day to help lessen these issues too, it isn't medications from a doctor but actual vitamins my mom orders that she takes to help with her IBS and mine. She rarely ever has issues because she's very healthy but me on the other hand I'm working on getting my weight down which has been helping bit by bit. I would strongly suggest maybe taking some vitamins to help specifically with IBS. Mainly magnesium and oregano oil helps.
Yikes, that sounds really bad! 0-0 Well at least it wasn't permanent and you were able to feel better.
Yup I heard peppermint tea really helps with stomach issues too. I actually have a few tea bags left. I'll have to take up on your advice with that, I'll try and do that. :)
Yup I hope so, that would be a huge relief for those who suffer all their life with IBS to be able to finally have a cure.
