Arturo had always struggled with agoraphobia. His teenage years had been spent primarily indoors, drawing, playing videogames and very rarely socializing. So when the opportunity to "cure everything" by way of a Neural Implant came, he couldn't ignore it.
Admittedly, the stipulations of the procedure were morally troublesome. Surrender of a portion of one's will to a computer chip in your brain turned the world into a candy-colored dreamscape packed with cute animals, soothing music and a litany of advertisements. But these were easy to ignore, especially since they made you feel so... Good... The very few friends Arturo had found it difficult to talk to him, as he became preoccupied with objects and things that simply did not occupy the same plane of reality.
In the middle of the night, he got a craving to travel somewhere tropical for the winter. He took out a microloan for a plane ticket, and ventured out into the world.
