Yep! :) That was pretty much my second or third pic of Stith, and I've just watched the movie... didn't have it on DVD, so I had to use the only official artwork of her I found on the official Titan AE website... it's a BW drawing.
I think my later drawings of her gave back her facial expressions better, but I'm satisfied with how the body and the pose turned out, overall.
Only thing I'd change, since I've watched Voyager after drawing this, I'd gave her a phaser rifle, not a simple small phaser... :)

TNG Forever! Though I like DS9 and Voyager too. Oddly not a big fan of ToS, except for Spock of course (weird mongolian klingons...) Then again, those miniskirts were hot... if a bit schauvinist to have all women wear them. What about those that had fat legs?
Enterprise was so-so... got pretty good just when it was cancelled. I am really, really hoping for a new series.

Treasure Planet, you mean. Have you seen the work of
jabberwockychamber ? He draws Amelia from that movie, all the time... She is a sexy cat-lady, but the lack of a tail and the human-colored skin always put me off. I prefer Stith...
Oddly, both movies came out about the same time, and had similar premises... maybe someone got the script of one and sold it to the other studio? At any rate, sadly this was Don Bluth's last movie, he disappearad in limbo since then.

Well, it doesn't take away from their fun - but I too try to stay away from characters like Krystal, Renamon or Minerva Mink. They have too much exposure already without me adding... Actually my latest pic is something like this, Nekonelle is the best known furry Monster-of-the Day from Sailor Moon, and there is already plenty of art of her around. But, I thought I would not leave her out of the roster since I am drawing all my favourites.
That's cool! I actually watched the movie twice in theatres back then, the second was just to get mental pics of Stith for drawing. Life was hard before torrents and rips! And the movie was not released in my country on VHS either, I only got it on DVDrip much later when DirectConnect and dial-in modems became a thing.
Btw, what's TPM?
Btw, what's TPM?
I am sorry to hear this. Do you own a copy now? I think that it is an underrated classic. A gem so to speak. I know that many would not agree with me. I think it is great that you supported the movie by watching it twice in the theater! I was very little when it was released. I was six year old, but I actually remember the trailer from 2000 very vividly.
TPM is short for "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace". I am from Congo and I was the only kid in my residential district who owned a copy of the movie. This made me the "cool kid", because all of my classmates wanted to see the movie. Some even paid with candy to see it, lol! Most Western people have to laugh when I tell them this, because TPM is seen as pretty abysmal in the West.

I download it since then of course, but y'know, never checked if it ever had a BR release. Worth looking up I guess, BRs are getting discounted all the time.
I think it hurt the movie that it came out just when Treasure Planet a year before this, and both had a similar space theme. The movie was pretty dark and had some mature themes, I liked it but it apparently tanked hard - Don Bluth never even did anything since then, weirdly.
Ah Phantom Menace, I forget there was a "The". Wow yeah, I cannot even imagine how hard it must have been for you to get movies there... We had it rough here during the communist regime before 1990 and tons of movies/games/toys never came out due to ideological differences, but I assume you guys had it worse there.
Thanks for the watch by the way!

You are very welcome!
I only know about a DVD release of "Titan A.E.", but it is possible that there was a Blu-ray version in the USA. I am sad that the movie flopped and that it killed Don Bluth's career. I always wanted to see his unmade "Dragon's Lair" movie. You are right, the release date was not very good and I heard that parts of the animation were not finished and were subsequently left out of the movie.
I am sorry to hear that you had trouble under the Communist regime. We also had dictators and regimes, I don't know if you have ever heard of Mobutu Sese Seko, but he was a dictator who ruled when I was a little kid. It is true, that it was rather hard to get VHS copies in the Congo, because only a few stores actually sold them and they were both expensive and hard to get. the internet however helped a lot and it has become quite common for my family to simply order movies through the internet.
I sometimes love to remember the old days, because we only had a few movies, but we had a deep connection to the movies we owned. It wasn't like it is now. I live and study in Germany and the Germans just mindlessly consume movies. It's nothing special for them anymore. This was not the case when I was a kid: we often shared movies with each other or made movies night were all relatives, friends and neighbors would gather around the television to watch a movie together. I was the king, because I owned "Star Wars IV-VI", "RoboCop" and "Titanic", which were movies which most kids loved.

Yeah, honestly the whole Dragon's Lair game could make for a good movie with added dialogue. There was a cartoon series of it, btw.
Oh yeah I heard about him. I think he and other dictators in Africa also got weapons and advisors from the soviet union, who wanted to find footholds there. And man, I got so confused as a kid in geography class about the whole "Zaire" thing, I still learned that in primary school but then in secondary got changed back to Congo.
Things were hard before the internet! I have some sketches posted in my "Scraps" folder of Stith that I drew from promo materials I could find in newspapers and online, LOL. Things got easier with Direct Connect and later torrents.
Oh, you live in Germany? Cool! I am hungarian myself and speak a bit of Deutsch. I too miss those movie nights, we did that a lot too with friends. Funny thing is, those old VHS tapes are still useful -there are so many cartoons and movies that never got a DVD release and have not been aired since. I am actually doing a "remaster" of the 1993s cartoon The Adventures of T-Rex (see my latest drawing, there are some nice anthro dino girls in that show) using crappy youtube english audio and digital french video I got off a streaming paying french site. But there are so many shows from which the best we got are some super low res TV-rips even today in the digital era - like the Tv show Legend or the cartoon COW Boys of Moo Mesa.
I agree these days in the huge movie dumps you find less movies that grab or inspire you. For me, the last few that I still rewatch time and again were "9", Rango, and Monsters University, and on live action front, Hot Fuzz for example. But I do see that younger fans here and on other sites still find movies or shows they obsess about - even if message boards are used less and less. Heh, I remember joining the Titan AE message boards once I could get internet access at the university, and there were yahoogroups and such! (those are dying breed)

Haha, same here! I always hears people talk about a mythical land named "Zaire" and I had no idea where this place was supposed to be. I thought as a child that it must be some fairy tale kingdom in the jungle. I feel stupid looking back, but I was not able to find a place named "Zaire" in the physical maps I had as a kid. So we are both from nations which were occupied by foreign Communist powers and both of our nations managed to keep their Christian faith despite the odds and the brutality, which is wonderful!
Very nice. Es freut mich zu hören, dass du etwas Deutsch sprichst! I like Hungary very much! I went through Hungary when I traveled from Austria to Romania. The Hungarians were very nice and kind to me. It also loved Budapest and all of its beautiful architecture (my personal favorite was the Parliament, it must be one of the most gorgeous buildings ever built).
I find it wonderful that you are doing a remaster of "The Adventures of T-Rex"! I used to watch the show as a kid. I still recall the theme song and their cool armors, but I only remember a few of their names. I think that the main characters name was Bernie, but I could be wrong. I would have to look it up. My Dad bought me several cartoon shows on VHS, but they usually included only a handful episodes. I also recall "Wild West C.O.W. Boys of Moo-Mesa". It always fascinated me that nobody had ever thought about creating a real "Cowboy show", Haha . My favorite character was always Cody, probably because he was seemingly around my own age. I don't know any of the other movies you have mentioned, but I quite like "Rango"! The movie is probably so good because it doesn't follow the typical cliches and features new and unusual ideas and characters.
I agree that movie nights were cool when we were kids. You and I both recall the time when it was quite hard to get movies at all. This caused us to cherish these movies and a different way than people do nowadays, where it simply takes a button click to get all movies one's heart desires. My uncle actually smuggled some VHS copies for us kids into the Congo when I was a little kid. It is strange to remember this twenty years later. This act could have been quite dangerous for him.

Ah, so this was not really talked about in the school? And interesting, did not know that Congo has so many Christians. I only became one funnily enough because my parents wanted to send me to a Catholic school (there were only 4 allowed in the country at the time) but funnily enough it ended up making most of my family Christians too. Sure, this was the 80ies, when the system started to get "mellow". Before that, you could easily be refused entrance to universities or never get promoted if you were openly religious. It was not forbidden, just...not recommended if you ever wanted to achieve anything in life.
Heh, glad you liked Budapest! Not sure when you were here, but they really made the Parliament beautiful, replacing the outer stone so it no longer gets black due to the smog, and there are now scheduled tours all day round (unlike when I was a kid, when it was really hard to get in there). I travel in front of it every day and still marvel at it.
I still confuse the 5 main T-rex brothers, LOL! All their names begin with B, they all look the same, only their skin color and clothing color is different - and unlike the TMNT, they have no specific personalities either. Honestly, the villains like Big Boss, Little Boss, Shooter, Flo, Axe, are so much more interesting. I just drew the sadly not often seen Chain Gang - 4 thuggish biker ladies with little in the brain department but also a terrible fashion sense (pink leather, really? )
Oh yeah, I liked COW boys too! (Funnily COW stands of Code of the West, which the marshal never shuts up about... ) Unfortunately only a few episodes are out on VHS, no DVDs were made, the rest are only out as bad quality TV rips. That show had some nicely designed anthro ladies too - cows and otherwise. I need to do R34 of the puma gal Barbwire Beth someday.
Heh, speaking of movies being hard to get, did you guys too get these "one voice overdubbed" movies too? I remember seeing Labyrinth like this, there were VHS tapes in circulation where every voice was overdubbed by the same bored-sounding old lady. It was terrible, but at least we could understand the movies! Usually we watched these at school whenever some teacher was missing.
Huh, did not know smuggling VHS tapes was a thing! I assume the system did not want certain movies to get in... That was the same here. My great-grandfather was a film projector operator, and my grandpa told stories how he would bring him dinner at late shows where he was playing movies only for the communist party mandated censors, who would ultimately decide whether a movie could be shown to the public or not. So my grandpa saw quite a few movies that nobody else in the country did at the time!

This is great to hear! It honors me that we are both sons of the Holy Mother Church and Brethren in the Lord Jesus Christ! I am impressed that you have followed Christ's path despite the persecution of Christians! Even your family became Christian, which I find truly wonderful.
I went to Budapest in 2018. The Parliament looked great, but I am not sure if it was cleaned up or not. It is amazing that you see this beautiful building every day! I only get to see the monstrosities the Germans have built as well as some other daily atrocities on the streets.
I agree, the T-Rex brothers are confusing. I too, have trouble distinguishing them.
It is cool to hear that you have fond memories of COW Boys! I really loved the show as a kid! Please do the Rule34 you have suggested... its just for science, right?
My relatives mostly bought British, German and French VHS copies, but we did have one Polish VHS which was made in the way like you described it. It was a Mickey Mouse VHS and the voice was an older man who sounded very aggressive. I don't understand Polish, but it sounded like he was cursing the characters. Haha, I still loved the VHS, because it was very entertaining, even though I could not understand a single word!
So your Grandpa had access to forbidden movies? This is very cool! I assume that he must have been very careful, because Communists are pretty quick when it comes to executing people. I am quite happy that he didn't suffer any punishments! It is so weird to think how absurd these regimes were. My uncle smuggled some Bible VHS ("Beginner's Bible") into the Congo back in the day and he had to be very cautious, because the Communists tried to ban everything American and Bible oriented as "against the socialist World Revolution" (this was the exact wording they used).
I have a question: did they show Star Wars in the 80s in Hungary, or was it banned by the Communist censors? I am asking, because a man I know stated that he watched Star Wars as a kid in the GDR, which sounded unconvincing.

Oh yeah it was cleaned up by then already. It was more in the late nineties/early 2000s when it was always being renovated in one part or another.
Germans built stuff in your country? Oh was it one of the few African countries that was colonized by Germany and not the British?
Definitely, I want to draw that puma girl - her gang also had a nice american antelope gal. The show mostly had anthro cows usually, and to me those weren't as sexy looking, but most R34 of the show that exists is of those gals.
LOL! Yeah that's exactly how it was how cheap dubbing worked back then. I assume, since these were western movies not allowed in the country otherwise, someone must have dubbed them on the spot at a home studio.
Btw, you ever heard of NU Pogodi? It was basically the soviet Tom and Jerry. Pretty fun show, sadly not many episodes exist.
Communism became more "gentle" after 1956, when they brutally crushed the rebellion here. You might have learned about it - the western world basically agreed to let the Soviet Union do whatever they wanted here and in Prague, and they agreed to not to intervene in the Suez Canal crisis. However, after executing a lot of people and imprisoning more (and tons of people just escaping through the border), they realized this might happen again if they continue like this, so they kinda... "relaxed". There was less open oppression, more travel and vacation benefits, etc. They actually stopped executions completely, but still imprisoned people here and there. Basically if you did not openly speak up against the system, you could live a moderately comfortable life. This had its own effect of basically making people just shut up and accept the compromises, and this mentality is still here today for the older people... But things were never as bad again as before 1956, unlike in Romania where Cauceschu continued his reign of terror. Our local mini-Stalin, Rakosi, was nicely "put out to pension" in Moscow instead and removed from the scene.
Oh yeah, we had SW for sure. But it was probably delayed by a few years. I remember watching Empire Strikes Back in theatres for the first time with my dad, but it must have been years after 1980 since I was barely just born back then, LOL.
In the late 80ies we started getting almost anything, Back to he Future, Terminator, Predator, Alien... Probably movies with a political bent did not get here, though, but we did get the James Bond movies on TV later. I do remember Hunt for the Red October coming out.

Hi Swift12!
The Germans and the British fought during World War 1 and 2, but we never were officially a part of the German Empire. We were mostly under Belgian control, and the Germans were mostly here as missionaries, educators, engineers and builders. The Germans (in strong contrast to the Belgians) are actually quite fondly remembered in the Congo.
Cool! R34 stuff will probably look great!
Nu Pagadi? Yes, I remember this show! It was weird, because they obviously tried to copy Disney and Tom and Jerry cartoons in a strange mix. I also recall all of these strange science fiction movies like "Eolomea", "Road to the Stars" and "Ikarie XB-01" ("Solaris" and "Stalker" were good, though). They were cheaply made, but they entertained me as a kid! I think you can imagine what a miracle "Star Wars" must have been, when I saw it for the first time! It was unbelievably good.
I have heard about the horrors of Prague. The things which happened in Prague were only whispered here, because nobody wanted to anger the authoritarian rulers here (but this was before my birth). I have heard of Matyas Rakosi, he was called "the most malevolent character I ever met in political life" by John Gunther. The news about his evil and bloodthirsty acts even spread to Africa. Men like Rakosi, Stalin, Pot and Ngouabi only proof how utterly diabolical humans can be. Stalin and Mao were reportedly proud about how many people they had killed and often laughed and joked about the dead.
I know what you mean, I encountered this ultra-conformist attitude among the Germans as well. They were basically drilled to just shut and and never talk about freedom and other forbidden topics. It will probably take ages until these things are really healed, although our current politicians are not much better, in my opinion. Everything is always about power. They don't actually care about people.
Cool! At least you had these movies! Movies which make one forget the brutal realities at least for two hours. I recall watching "Stargate" and "RoboCop" to calm myself as a little kid. I know this must sound weird, but I think that the whole experience made us stronger. We became more faithful and started to understand what really matters in life. This is something which people from democratic societies can't understand. There was a genuine fear for our lives. Medicine and food were always in shortage and one expected spies and the secret police everywhere. It is an extremely dreadful feeling, but it makes one cherish life and faith. I am still hiding my Bible and my icons, because this fear has never vanished in me. Maybe it stems from the fact that I experienced these things when I was a little kid. Anyway, the West unfortunately went in the other direction and got extremely shallow, nihilistic and consumeristic.
Did you guys have foreign food in Czechoslovakia or was it as bad as it was here?

Ah, so it was the Belgians, then! Sorry I only know they split Africa between themselves somehow, but can never remember which current African country belonged to which nation as a colony.
Yeah though NU Pogodi also had some political overtones I see now as an adult - the wolf is basically a non-working drifter, smokes cigarettes, while the rabbit is a hard working, clean and dutiful ideal citizen, LOL.
Hmm, gotta look up some of those movies. I saw Solaris and Stalker but not the other two. In Hungary we had ridiculously low budget stuff like the Adventures of Pilot Pirx - where a futuristic looking ashtray or some cooking pots with lemon squezers were used as a space station. I loved them as a kid but looking at them now, they are ridiculous.

Yeah, I read the "Black Book of Communism" and it was a tough read - I wish they taught the horrors of these leaders to more people, especially in America. Many there now idolize communism without knowing where such a thing will inevitably lead. As Orwell wrote, "Everyone is equal, but some are more equal". There will always be a leader who is exempt from the rules...
In my lifetime it was never as bad here as it was in your country. By the time I was born we did no longer fear for our lives - as I said after 1956 and the rebellion they went the other way, try to pamper (within limits) the populace with cheap food, entertainment (they even allowed a select few comedians to make fun of communist leaders, within limits) and luxury items like cars, phones, that people just got content and stopped fighting. There was a saying that Hungary was "the happiest blok in the gulag", if you know what I mean.
I am from Hungary, not Czechoslovakia - the latter is located to the north of us. Or, well, was - now it is two countries, Slovakia and Czech Republic. But I went there a lot as I had relatives living there (most of Slovakia was formed from territories they took from Hungary after WWI). Nah, we had some foreign food, but mostly stuff was imported from communist countries, like East Germany or the SSSR. Tropical fruit, like oranges and bananas, were a rarity, but not unattainable. We got it around Christmas mostly, and it was a special time, they were not in stores all year.

No problem! Africa history is very confusing, even for Africans! Maybe this come from the fact that we constantly got new governments and the country lines were also often changing.
I agree! I didn't realize this is a kid, but you are right, there is definitely propaganda and subliminal messaging in the show! Well... I wish I could say that this got better, but Hollywood isn't very different. They do the same thing. Some things never change, apparently.
Pilot Pirx? Like the character from Stanislaw Lem? Wow! I never knew that they adapted the books into movies! Thank you, Swift12! I would have never found this without your help! I am a Stanislaw Lem fan. Have you ever read "Summa Technologiae"? It is similar to Arthur C. Clarke's "Profiles of the Future", only much better! Many of its predictions (Internet, advanced robotics, mobile phones, 3D printing etc.) have come true! It is in fact one of my personal favorite books
Exactly, very well said! Great Orwell quote as well! I always found it hard to believe that people can be so stupid and naive to ignore the disastrous consequences of Communism. Much to my surprise, many young people here seem to want Communism back. They usually only know a fantasy version they know from books and swear that "this wasn't real Communism". You and I have lived through its horrors, so we are very well aware how actual Communism looks like.
I know what you mean. Hungary was often referred as an "example of working Communism". It is very fascinating to hear your accounts and recollections. This is something Westerners don't seem to understand. One has to live through actual Communism to really understand it and its mechanics in real life. All of these intellectual ideas are too far removed from reality, this is why Utopianism was always seen as dangerous. Anyway, I have heard that Hungary had one of the highest ever recorded suicide rates under Communism, is this true? If true, it would be a very sad record.
My bad. I am sorry. Hungary is one of the most Christian nations, right? The Communists couldn't destroy Christianity in the way they did in Czechoslovakia and the German Democratic Republic, right?
I find it cool that you still had exotic food, at least from time to time!
You know what I find creepy? How similar our accounts are. Seems that Communism worked everywhere with similar methods and constraints. You had a handful of secretaries and politicians who had everything and controlled the flow of information and the military, while the rest of the people had to suffer.
There is something I wanted to tell you: I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Yep, the same! I guess you read Lem too? I was familiar with the short stories before I saw the TV show. They basically adapted and expanded those a bit. I enjoyed them at the time, but looking back now indeed the budget was ridiculous. And this was after the time the USA had Star Trek.
I need to re-read his books, has been ages. My dad had a giant sci-fi and fantasy collection but it was left to my half-brother. I'll check if he has that book.
Indeed, there are those here too who want communism back. I guess for them it was "easier" not to think and let others control their lives as long as they had cushy comfortable lives and could steal as much as they wanted (Hungary still has this mentality see, since people felt the communist government was taking money from them - which they did, people who got too rich got taxed harder - , lots of people even today live on the minimum income and work "black" aka hide their true income.
And as for the ones in western countries, as you say, they never experienced real communism. Btw, funny story, and sadly real, back when french communists got invited to the USSR, they were toured in basically "fake villages" where for the duration, people got more food in stores, better cares, better clothing, and of course tons of secret service workers to mingle among them. If you ever watched the old Don Camillo movies, one even used this plot.
Hungary sadly even today has one of the highest suicide rates. Also highest tobacco users, though at least both are going down a bit. We are a gloomy people, overall, when you ask a hungarian about their country we rather like to bemoan how history always had it in for us rather than be proud of what we achieved... like I am doing now, LOL.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too, belatedly!

They did a newer show about Ijon Tichy called "Ijon Tichy Raumpilot" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DSCXsIR03Q), where they - weirdly enough - used extremely old-fashioned sets and cheap effects, despite the fact that they had a rather larger budget for the show. I am sorry to hear that your half-brother got all of the sci-fi! I hope that you will be able to create a new fantasy and sci-fi collection!
I know what you mean. Man is a hierarchical oriented being and many seek back the rather rigorous leadership and government structure of the old times. I can see the same in the Congo. There are many who would wish that the Communists and the Colonial powers would come back. I know that this statement is very controversial, but I believe that democracy is against human nature. Humans instinctively want to have a leader. That said, I hope that Communism never returns. It has killed too many people and devastated entire continents. Its by far the most destructive form of government which ever existed on Earth. The whole "this wasn't REAL Communism" argument is just embarrassing at this point. If people want actual Communism, they should move to North Korea.
Yeah, I heard the same thing! The GDR did the same! They had fake representative cities which they just maintained to show Western journalists. The GDR was a joke of a nation. Did you know that Erich Honecker did send a bunch of Stasi people over to West Germany to buy sweets and cakes because the GDR had production problems? This sounds like a joke, but it is true.
I love Don Camillo! I know what you mean, lol!
People in Hungary are so sad and depressed? I don't understand this. Many people in Germany would sell everything to live in Hungary! Hungary is often brought up as a positive example of a European nation. Hungary - at least as far as I know - didn't suffer from Angela Merkel's impressive incompetence as a leader! I am studying and Hamburg and half of the city looks like something right out of a "Mad Max" movie. There are feces and urine in the streets and violence and crime rates are higher than in many places in Africa. Most streets in the Congo are actually cleaner than in Gemany, which I find just insane. I wish I could study in Hungary! Hungary is great!

Yep! In the past years, there have been books released for kids with "educational" stories about DC characters, and for some reason, they are using the JLU designs for most characters. So yeah, despite Cheetah having the Barbara Ann Minerva origin, she looks like the JLU scientist version. There are several books, I have them all scanned if you want to see them, drop me a PM with your mail! One has her and Catwoman teaming up, after she dresses like Selina to impersonate her. And LOTS of bondage... Wonder Woman always ties her up at the end.
