I do love these two xD I always make up stories for adopts I'm working on- for these two:
They were raised away from the Pridelands. Zira and Nala are the same age, and once upon a time, best friends and equally as good huntresses. Being the best choices, Scar mated with them both, and they had their cubs days apart. Zira first, then Nala.
Scar waited for both litters to be born, as he wanted an heir who looked like him, as only then would he live on forever.
When both where safely delivered, Scar was disgusted as neither resembled him and announced to the new mothers that they'd best not get attached, as the cubs would soon be a snack for the hyena's... in order to save these innocent lives, Nala proposes to Zira that she would take them both somewhere safe and return once they were settled to retrieve her and the other lionesses.
Zira agrees, but as the months slowly pass... her hope begins to fade, she was soon pregnant again... Nuka was a strong healthy cub, Scar was pleased with him... but then the incident with the zebra when he was a cub changed everything... its over a year before Nala returns to the land, with neither of their cubs in tow, but some male proclaiming to be Mufasa's son, Simba... Nala never intended to return with their sons, or reunite them in a far off land...
Years would pass before these two, left with a neighbouring kingdom once allies with Mufasa, would come to question the truth of their origins... and only upon their adoptive mothers deathbed would the truth be revealed, but by then- both Nala and Zira had families of their own, and one had quite literally lost their mind...
