Summer heat roiled in waves, distorting the long plains and the endless golden wave. Crickets chirped in the distant, always elsewhere from whatever or whomever might be wandering the heated fields and lands. This balanced silence was upkept by casual eyes and tense ears. Animals of all kinds lived in the fields all around, but kept low and covered, from both the heat of the sun and the chance of becoming prey.

One stepped through the fields with a bound confidence. Ears pricks, nostrils flared, he stood strong and tall among the golden ocean waves, daring any wandering gaze to make a move towards his proud stance. His eyes, as sharp as a predators but with the wisdom of the hunted, gazed on un-disturbed and with resolute understanding of the massive stretch of land; his land, ahead.
